No not at all. Just pointing that out, if you wanna run it like a polyphonic analog you need some serious cpu power. I could only play a few triads in the lower modes. I'll have to upgrade before i can even look at synthe like Diva or Synthix. I'm happy with synth squad for now anyway, the transmod system is awesome!chacka wrote:So it wasn't a complaint? I don't like the high CPU usage of Diva either but the sound makes it worth to me. For years I wished for a synth that sounds great but has to be rendered for that! Now I own it.musikmachine wrote:Que?chacka wrote:Yeah, everybody wants it all and for free.musikmachine wrote:Yeah but at the cost of some serious cpu.djanthonyw wrote:Analog sound is great but the workflow absolutely SUCKS.. Diva brings the sound of analog in the superior format of digital plugin workflow. It doesn't get any better than that.![]()
So nothing wrong. Peace.

Actually they are and quite a lot. It is true that much of Moores Law has been used to cram more cores in there but the cores gets faster and faster too.pdxindy wrote:It's my impression that cpu's are not keeping up. They are adding more cores, but a single core is not that much faster than a few years ago... right?
The 2600 is about 5 times as fast as a Q6600.
And as most of you probably know he didn't actually predict the CPUs would be faster, just that you'd put more transistors in there. Not quite the same thing.
But i believe Intel is actually ahead of Moores Law (in terms of CPU speed even though he didn't actually predict that) if you can fully utilize all cores.

But of course! We're trying to organise a booth this time.Ingonator wrote:Maybe i'll be at this years Musikmesse again (last year we only met for a few seconds at the entrance...) so we could talk directly there...
Btw, no offense taken at all. Thing is, even if Diva lacks a bit of bass compared to a 4000€ collector's item, this doesn't diminish the achievement at all. She is a massive game changer and nothing will take that from us.
(And even if she wasn't that gamer changer we believe her to be, she's the most successful product we've ever launched - thousands of users ten days after release can't be such a bad sign)

I agree that Diva is something really different, in both sound quality and the "modular" approach. My favorite part are the Jupiter modules but the Mini modules are great too.Urs wrote:Btw, no offense taken at all. Like i already mentioned a filter overload module like in the Phatty or a Tube Drive FX (different from the one in the Rotary FX) would be great for a future update of Diva.
My biggest problem with Diva is the CPU use to be honest. I guess i have to get a new computer sometimes this year.

Add to this things such as:jupiter8 wrote: Actually they are and quite a lot. It is true that much of Moores Law has been used to cram more cores in there but the cores gets faster and faster too.

- SSDs. For some things they can make quite a difference. Maybe not especially in terms of authentic replications of whatever analogue synths, but they can free up quite some precious CPU power once it comes to whatever caching and/or streaming.
- Faster RAM.
- A lot better audio driver protocols. Remember when ASIO came out? There was hardly any company delivering drivers that wouldn't make your sound choke, had recording offsets and what not. Almost not an issue anymore, plus things have been gotten quite better with CoreAudio and the likes, too.
- More efficient hosts. Everybody knows I don't love Apple, but Logics efficiency (especially under low latencies) is still absolutely unrivaled. This means that even when you're using a CPU hungry softsynth that isn't part of Logics optimizations, you will still have more overhead as all the other things running in your songs munch up less.
The combination of all these things will easily beat Moores law.

i grew up in the analog world and spend a fortune on hardware back in the day. I certainly dont miss any of the outoftune crap, constant need for mantainance, no real total recall and whatnot.
IMO DIVA recreates everything that was good from that period and leaves out all the downsides. Whats not to like?

Talk about stroking the devs ego.
Why do we have to have ten threads from the one developer alll the time.
Ban me then f**k you counts.

Cool man! You guy(s) deserve the success.
Not just Diva, but all the other work too.
It's rare when one gets to do what they love doing and earn a living from it too.
I would think it's rare anyway.
I tried many roads, but never got to that, no matter how much I put into it.
Wonder how much is chance and how much is effort.
Well congrats on making another great synth, and thanks for being a dev at kvr who actually communicates with us users here on a regular basis.
Cheers.

There's Phat,warmth and heat shimmer.What else is there ? 3 variables,should be doable.Nokenoku wrote:Wrong.randyandyvandaman wrote:You cannot recreate real voltage topologies ( vco,vcf, vco.)digitally .There are way too variables

I'm using diva on a 8core mac pro,and loving the performance. The sound of this synth far surpasses anything I've heard ITB until now. With about 3 or 4 presets, some tweaking the patches it was hardly a question what the best sounding synth is in my book.cheers Urs
