The qnx os is fast and slick and will soon have android app support although they will need to be repacked and tested, is anyone developing for this platform ?

Not to be overly negative, but the Playbook is a dead device. They're blowing them out right now. Despite QNX being pretty slick, RIM really blew it when implementing features, or not implementing features, as it were. I wouldn't get my hopes up for a lot of development, if I were you.

You're only hope would be stuff that'll run on Android 2.3, which is the Android app support you speak of.

Is there any possibility that the Playbook will run Android musics apps with lower latency than Android devices????
No, that Glitch is meant to be there.....

I would find that highly unlikely, given that there's a conversion process also going on.

I would too if that is the case. I just wondered incase it somehow compiled the android app to run on its own device rather than an emulation. I assume RIM are confident enough that the device will run the app well enough to make it worthwhile, for example a game must run perfectly or its nothing more than gimmik and it will indeed be a dead device.

Shame as variation and competition can be good sometimes.

Most of the android tablets we looked at were laggy and unresponsive in their basic functions, eg, navigating the ui, in comparison to qnx utter rubbish.

are you talking about midi/osc latency or basic interaction with the apps ?

I had a quick look at RIMs native sdk for playbook and on paper, it seems like they do offer low-latency (~5ms) but I haven't tried it yet. This assumes a proper native port to QNX and not just an Android app running.

I want to put some time into porting Caustic 2.0 to different platforms this year and Playbook is my list, so if it's not too time-consuming to port, look for at least one music app out there soon. (maybe) :D

Good.

There are a few music apps already, tonebox and a few others, but nothing like Caustic.
