Just tested tascam us-800 on ipad 2 Digital and Analog i/o
Using Multitrack Daw and Nanostudio

Connected my Yamaha 01v96 to us-800 digital i/o on ipad 2

Everything worked fine can create a digital and analog effects loop when using
Multitrack Daw. The great thing about the tascam is you can configure the
three outputs headphone, line out and digital out to send either audio 1-2,3-4,
5-6,7-8 from pc/ipad to one of the outputs this means you can create an effects loop.

will need to configure outputs on pc/mac with tascam mixer app.

Configure your us-800 in windows so

headphone = main mix
lineout = 1-2 ( use 1-2 which also works with nanostudio )
digital out = 1-2 ( use 1-2 which also works with nanostudio )

then connect to ipad and configure multitrack daw ( 8 track input version )

track 1 = A (1-2 track will be sent out to effects box)
track 2 = B (3-4 track )
track 3 = C (5-6 ARMED track will record return effects )
track 4 = D (7-8 ARMED track will record return effects )

Digital is the same just remember to configure sync to internal on us-800
as the ipad sends no digital sync output.

Digital and Analog also worked on my mpc2000xl no sync errors.

UPDATE : it appears the settings are not saved when the us-800 is turned off and on again so every time you turn it on you will have to use your pc/mac to reconfigure the us-800. Else it will send the main mix to the outputs not track 1-2 causing feedback, oh well still usable.

I wanted to buy the tascam us800 for my ipad 2, but I have been told it has been discontinued. So I have bought the US600, but as soon as I put it into my Ipad, with the usb adapter, it says not compatible. The Software app i use is DAW.
I raed somewhere that the US1800 has the same problem.

Please can you help, do I need another app for my IPAD

Many Thanks

the reason people buy the us-800 is because its class compliant with mac windows this means it needs no drivers to operate, if the us-600 is class compliant then it should work if not the us-600 won't work on ipad. you should of checked on tascam website or read manual before purchase.

I just ordered one (us-800) over here (ch), there is still one left I think.

Apple are a bit funny, for my iPad I have to find some old gear that is not manufactured anymore and on my MBA I have a super duper thunderbolt interface that I can plug to pretty much nothing ... go figure :roll:

This is awesome! I just bought one brand new on evilbay for less than a hundred bucks...

What external effects are you using with yours?

I bought one of these over a year ago for recording drums with the multiple inputs and using it with windows was crap. It gives you nothing but trouble and they quit updating the drivers so I felt like I was about to smash it. But now I hear it works fine with the ipad it seems I made a good purchase for 99 bucks HA!
