Missing market segment - Effects app NOT for guitar

Love my ipad/iODock combination, but am looking for a way to process keys or especially a drum machine with multi-effects that AREN'T oriented towards guitar. Seems to me there should be an app for that, but alas, no luck so far.
What'd be great would be something like the little effects processor that comes with the Korg Legacy collection... or perhaps a Kaoss pad app?
I've tried a bunch of apps with limited success. Couldn't get Filtatron to behave well with a live input (plus, it's portrait orientation isn't great with the iODock!). I don't think AmpliTube is working with the iODock yet, and AmpKit was EXTREMELY noisy and had some kind of delay effect that I couldn't shut off.
The best result so far was using Garageband's amp and pedals, but I wish I could remove the amp part from the signal path -- again, the models are very noisy with something like a drum machine. I *do* want to be able to dial up some distortion on drums, but I don't want a constant stream of white noise in between hits.
The iPad is a great piece to integrate into the studio, not only as a sketchpad, but with things like Animoog (for one), it can also be a serious production and sound design tool. I still think the non-guitarist effects market is a little under-served at the moment... unless I just haven't found the right app yet. Any suggestions out there? Where is a "Nanoverb iOS" when you need it?

It would be, if it could process an external audio signal. Looks like it's only for messing with its internal sounds/loops though.Would the korg iKaossilator be the kaoss pad app you are looking for ?

looking for modulation, reverb, delay effect for keyboard or drum specially? JamUp Pro has all the effects and work with IO Dock, it's designed for guitar, but the effect should work for drum/keyboard as well...
You can try JamUp Lite first (free download). http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/jamup-li ... 20506?mt=8

Thanks for the recommendation, Calvin -- just finished giving it a whirl.
Immediately, I liked that you could simply pull the amp out of the signal path -- that's EXACTLY what I was looking for. And the effects included in the lite version sounded very nice (once I realized I could adjust the blend with the slider in the upper right corner!).
However, *just* as I was about to purchase the Pro version, I decided to see what the "Jam" function did, and found a potentially worrisome issue:
Whenever I go to the "Jam" tab and select Load Song, I get a constant stream of white noise that won't go away until I exit the app. Since I stream music through Home Sharing, I do not currently have any audio files to import, but I'm curious as to whether this behavior is a glitch or something that is simply disabled in the Lite version?
Sometimes, if I cycle through the Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums icons at the botton of the iPod Import window, the noise will stop, but then it seems to adversely affect the regular processing. The effects are either delayed, or crackle (as if I have low latency mode enabled).
If I exit out and relaunch JamUp, operation appears to return to normal. But if I re-enter "Jam" mode, it will all go haywire again.
Background Audio and Ultra Low Latency are disabled, and I am using JamUp with the iODock.
Your thoughts about this issue?
Just posted a clip of the issue described above, recorded in real time. Setup my effect chain, went to the Jam tab and fiddled with it until the noise went away, and then went back to my preset without exiting the app. Listen here:

I am with you on the need. I want a live effects rig to use with flute (or voice or any other mic'd instrument) beyond guitar. Would love to see some live manipulation tools as well in the line of NI's Mouth or Finger packs. Hoping JamUp will look into that area with their app as it is really good.

I'm late to the CamelSpace party (just picked it up during their 1/2-price sale) -- but I would buy an iPad version with NO hesitation whatsoever.mbncp wrote:+1 for more fx.
Wouldn't mind something like camelspace/phat for ipad/iphone.

Hi Tim
You CAN actually disable the amp, by simply drag it off the signal path, because of physical display constraint, it is not off the signal path, but you can tell it's grey out. In that case, the amp is not on the audio path.
We will look into the Jam Player's audio streaming and keep you posted. Are you using iPad or iPad2, what's your iOS version?
You can also email me at calvin@positivegrid.com.
Cheers.

Hi Calvin -- Yes, being able to drag the amp off the chain was exactly what I was looking for originally and what I was commending JamUp on in my earlier post!
I am using an iPad 2 with the latest iOS 5 update.

Now that iso5 can handle multiple audio io, would be nice to have an fx rack that can deal with all these io.
Don't know about the latency but an iPad3 could/will probably make an interesting multi-fx/multi-io box

Tim, yes, you can disable the amp in JamUp.
The JamUp is a platform designed for multi-effects, currently is in the form of guitar, but it can expand to various application, i.e. vocal, drum, keyboard, etc.
We know some developers are working on ways to link different audio apps in the audio level... that will be cool.

A Korg Kaoss Pad app would be great (iKaosscilator is not the same). Korg has done great with iOS apps so I'm 99% sure they will eventually release the iKaoss.

You make it and I will buy it. Would love to see an effect that offers ambient and percussive processing to an input like a microphone.Calvin J. Abel wrote:Tim, yes, you can disable the amp in JamUp.
