Great sound and the sequencer is really nice. Too bad i already have punch cause i think if i don't have punch and i have to choose what to buy between these two i'll go with tremor.
Heavy CPU load, but understandable with the synth squad engine. Definitely the best drum synth i've ever tried for now (based on the demo, this is the one that hook me in immediately).

Cool, that seems to do the trick. Thanks!philait wrote: Sounds like you don't want the second snare to Choke the first is that correct?
For that Engine, click on the Synth Tab. Click Show Setup in the Mixer and unselect the CUT option.

I'm missing a few essential things in the sequencer that I use in Geist a lot.
For example:
- can I edit velocity, repeat and probability only by dragging the steps, ie. is there no expandable graph editor like in Geist?
- where is the note shift parameter?
- Why are there only global graphs, not "local" ones (per engine) as well?
- Or put differently: why can't I edit any other parameter per step like in Geist? The modulation system is certainly nice, but modulating stuff per step (like pitch, pan etc.) is essential for the sequencer IMO.
- Can I export patterns to the host?

after playing a couples of hours I think Tremor is very inspiring but i'm missing some things in the sound source section that Punch or µTonic have, like a sine wave for the OSC. A good thing is you can use the swing templates from geist

Ok looking forward to trying the demo but i just need to check; is it only one demo run or can it be installed on two computer? I'm using my laptop atm and it may not be able to handle Tremor so i don't wanna install if i only have one demo trial. Hope that makes sense!

I'm evaluating the demo, and what I'd hoped was a slam dunk... well, just isn't. Yeah, I'm a bit underwhelmed with the presets too. Some of them are nice, and some, I wonder why they're there, except to fill space. Not sure why FX didn't put their best foot forward in all ways, unless they're holding the good stuff back to sell as expansion packs in the near future.
I do like the sequencer though nice stuff. But again, the CPU usage... seems excessive. Will some optimization be happening in a soonish update?
One thing I noticed is that settings aren't saved with the host - like kit, etc. I know the demo limitations stipulate "no saving" but I assume that to mean you can't save any of your custom drum sounds or patterns. When I open a saved session, Tremor comes up in "default" state - is this a limitation of the demo as well, or is this how it works? (Or a bug?)

Editing my CPU usage comments.
Live's CPU usage reading must be a bit off as it seems excessive based on the actual CPU consumption in Activity Monitor. It's pretty hungry but maybe not as bad as Live seems to suggest it is. I'll give the FXpansion guys a break.

That's a limitation of the demo.Phase47 wrote:One thing I noticed is that settings aren't saved with the host - like kit, etc. I know the demo limitations stipulate "no saving" but I assume that to mean you can't save any of your custom drum sounds or patterns. Oh bloody hell, just a few minutes of tweaking and this thing is spitting out some glorious sounds... Autechre heaven. The modulation is so unbelievably cool.
I was a bit sceptical about yet another drum synth, but this one rocks yer rocks off. Great original sounds, and so many nice touches (dedicated menus, randomization, the mod system which I've gotten so used to from Synth Squad...).
The cpu hit is substantial though. I'm running a very complex pattern with dozens of modulations, and it's at 40% (i7 notebook, Ableton Live). That does seem really high, even taking into account that Ableton hogs cpu.

ok, I must be doing something wrong. yes I don't like the sound, but maybe I am accustomed to Diva and SynthSquad, but although cpu usage could be lower I am not off the charts and my DAW is from 2006.

Ok. The CPU consumption isn't really that bad to be honest. Live's CPU usage indicator seems a little heavy-handed because it's no-where as bad as that in the Mac OS X activity monitor. It's a hungry little beast but it's not as bad as I previously suggested.
I've been playing with Tremor for another few hours now and I have to say it's really growing on me. I love the interface and it's a lot of fun to use and it does sound pretty good even though a lot of the stock sound presets are a bit poor. I think FXpansion should work to better their stock library for the next update. I remember the Camel Audio guys getting a lot of grief when Alchemy was released for the relatively lacklustre factory library.
I can see me ending the night really liking this little beast. Is it good enough to get the credit card out? Maybe - not quite sure to be honest. Going to spend the rest of the night desperately trying to love it.

just downloaded the Demo and watched the vid. I also read the manual. I haven't installed yet as I am waiting for FedEx to drop off my 8 gigs of ram and
both boxed set's of Geist and DCAM Synth squad. I could get this stuff any minute and don't want to be in the middle of things when the packages arrives.
I could not see ANYWHERE, the ability to drag and drop midi patterns or a midi export function using Tremor. This could be a deal breaker for me. My earlier plan was to buy Geist(for what it is and does) and compliment it with RP-Punch of which I demoed for a month. Then I saw the DCAM special and put off buying Punch\ for a short time. In February was thinking of picking up a Akai MPD32
to control Geist and other Softies. Then I saw this Tremor deal and discount
for a month. I thought hmmm, perhaps jump on the Tremor deal while it lasts. Well I have a month to decide. This drag/drop/export midi thing, that is unless I am missing something may lead me back to the original plain for the Akai.
I am curious about Tremor so will install demo and mess with it some tonight.
