a few years ago I was invited and didn't go because of how expensive the hotel rooms were (that were decent and nearish). I don't think I would have liked it though.....so much activity and controlled chaos.
@gonga: Yes, that is the only thing on my wishlist, but I could hopefully be surprised
Of course it will be a decade before it's actually released so I'll be hurting if they do have something. But I don't think they actually will tbh.
@filkertom:
I saw the ibby 2012 catalog that was leaked.............YAWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNN!
Bummer, was hoping that instead of retreads they had actually listened to some of our needs.
Would love to see what "rasmus" is doing with the suhr lower-end......of course even if it was something I really wanted.....you'll never get one anyways

Note: I work for Westone, and Westone has a booth at NAMM.

Many years back I was a regular attendee to "The Guitar Show" Dealers from all over north america with both hard to find vintage stuff and new cutting edge stuff. It was great back then and... if you had a decent collectable item you could deal with the dealers getting a heck of a better deal then pawn/resell shops. It has something for everyone from the collector to the builder. And to be honest it was the only time I could talk to builders directly about what they were offering or just shoot the stuff.
The first time I ever saw a chapman stick was at the guitar show. Back before Joe Naylor built Reverand guitars he let me a/b his amps with other amp manufactuers. It was a great time. BB King signed my 335 I got an autographed poster of Frank Gambale who was doing a "sweeping seminar" (what else__)
I got to meet local heroes and national legends. There were luthier seminars and much more. Also it was very loud.
I'd love to go to namm as a reporter. Meet all the players get the run down on what's new. Not to mention In and Out will be providing food for the event. I haven't been to an in and out in years.

I'm going.
Been going every year since '85.
This year they have an In-N-Out burger joint INSIDE the convention center!
Usually lots of worn out scraggly old rockers (with scullets), mixed with shredders, bluegrassers, DJ's, and lots of cacophony.
Several years ago they finally put all the drums at the back of building D. Acoustic instruments and new and independent developers down in the basement of E building, etc.. Last year they started the iPad / iOS developers area. Tons of beautiful instruments and awesome jam sessions everywhere.
ALWAYS great demos at the Specctrasonics booth.
I usually avoid the throngs that hang out waiting for Eddie Van Halen to show up to sign autographs, as I much prefer watching the booth babes.
But overall NAMM is draining, and if you're organized you can see the whole thing in a couple days.
I'll post pics when I get a chance.

3 days.
btw, who covers this thing best now? Used to be we did a pretty good job here....I don't think it was last time. HC used to do well, but they ruined their website. I don't want a "mac only" coverage and I'd prefer hardware included.
