Nice video, but...
Why same or better sound can't be achieved with free VST synth1 (2002 release date)?

Synth1 has its own characteristics, CELL has its own characteristics. Each has its own characteristics, not who does not say that Synth1 better or worse).

What's so special at CELL? I only see SM stock modules in there.

Absolutely all of the unique ... some fragments of the scheme were to be using visual modules from Synth maker (completely redesigned modules)

Just as tip, i wouldn't design the gui too much virus ti like, because so the users automaticly will expect that it sounds like a virus ti, and if this is not the case, the negative replies will come for sure.
So if it should be a pure virus emulation ok, but if it should be more something own, than let it looks like something own

you are right) but I'm not going to draw an exact copy.. but the similarities waiil be in any cell with virus. but not an exact copy!)

I dont really care about the negativity here. It can be a bit frustrating when these extended announcement threads go tho. Better to just wait until its finished.
However - I have to say (and I dont often like VA synths) - this does sound pretty good. Very Virus like-and has punch, presence and tone. So Im interested for sure. But try not to draw it out too long...get it done...:)

I have no problem at all with "long" announcements. I mean .. read if you want or don't. No hard than to unsub from the thread! It would be fun if you wrote a little how development was going. Im interested in how a dev goes around when making a synth! :)

If i'm unwatching this thread i'll miss the release for sure.

Isn't Twitter a better tool for such things?

[edit: I stand corrected]

Usually releases are in the news here at kvr :?

If he didn't make this thread and only announced it once ready, wouldnt you risk missing it then also?

Rodney! Can you announce this in a separate thread once done so Wildfunk won't miss it and still be spared this thread causing him anguish?
It would seem like a win-win situation! :D

I watched the video, but frankly, at half of it, I gave up. It sounded good, but...
come on, an oscillator and a low pass filter? Really? Is this what you are counting to impress people with?
I'd like to know a little more about the architecture, like, fore example:
How many oscillators? How many filers? How many envelopes,. and what kind? How many LFOs and what kind? Matrix Modulation? If yes, how many points?
Or, to put it simply - are you emulating/imitating a Virus? Which one? Will you put everything there? More? Less?

fmr:

First of all in the video only half of the GUI is shown

Second, the video was made using a prebuild (alpha) version of CELL which contains:

1 oscillator (Sin\Saw with unison and ULTRA SAW)

2 filters LP/HP/Peak (single, serial and parallel mode)

filter and amp ADSR with punch control

a reverb and a bit\samplerate reducer.

check out the audio demos on the first page.

At the moment only Anjey(the author of CELL) has got a full version. And a couple of people are participating in the internal testing with prebuild versions.

Still, nothing about the architecture. You should know already about what it will be.
If all it will get is one oscillator with sine and saw/ultrasaw then I'm out.
