I've been trying to get the hang of linking the Lemur to specific targets like knobs and faders. It seems to send midi fine but the problem is I thought the connection was supposed to be two way - what I want is not only to use the Lemur to change say a fader position but also, if I use automation in the host, it should be sending the information back to Lemur to change the position of its faders so they stay in sync. Only it doesn't. Here is my setup;

and I also tried rightclicking on the knob and selecting "transmit value" - S1 is set up to use Loopbe for midi in and out, can't see what else I can set up unless there is a separate option somewhere to enable the midi out (which would be bad design if so) .

Bidirectional midi works for me - you have to make sure your music software is set up to send MIDI to the Lemur daemon output, and that your iPad is set up to both send to and receive from the daemon. You're on PC so you have Loopbe in the mix. Is Loopbe set up to send to the daemon?

Post

I thought it was - if you look at the daemon in the screenshot it has loopbe receiving and sending doesn't it? There don't seem to be any more options for me to select in Loopbe.

Oh, I didn't realize I could open that pic in a new tab to get a higher res view. :oops:

Yeah, that does look set up properly... for troubleshooting, try a different host software, or a different MIDI loopback driver, like MIDI Yoke. Maybe something is detecting a MIDI feedback loop and blocking it. (It doesn't need to - Lemur appears to be smart enough to know what to do with feedback.)

I can't use midi yoke on Win 7 64 bit and I did also try it with Copperlan but had the same problem. I also tried this in reaper and Cantabile and same problem - I can send midi but it's not bi directional

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't a Windows bug? - I just can't see any reason why my setup shouldn't be working bidirectionally. That's annoying.

man.. I hope you get it working. I want to try this soon.

I was reading the Lemur forum and noticed this guy talked about getting Midi Yoke installed and working on Win 7 64:

OK I will try midiyoke - such an old programme though - doesn't seem to have had an update for years so I'm surprised it works at all

OK I uninstalled everything including rtpMidi and installed midiyoke but still having same problems. As before I am using different cables for in and out so as not to cause any feedback loops (just like in the manual). I am sending midi to the host(s) but nothing is being received.

did you ever solve the issues?

I would like to know how
