Anyone who doesn't like the presets - instead of just talking about it, post some audio examples what, in your opinion, it ought to sound like. Preferably your own work, & preferably DRY, but doesn't have to be either.
Talk is cheap, give us some actual audio.
@metrosonic to be fair - they did. We considered it for Geist but ruled it out as too geeky/leftfield for v1.0; Steve Duda has something similar in Nerve IIRC.

You can do this with maschine but it's per group. You can route sounds to a group to have evolving fx longer than the sequence length, there are a few other similarities between maschine and tremor as well.metrosonic wrote:Ditto. I didn't think I'd have any interest in the sequencer functionality but the ability to easily set up constantly evolving polyrhythms with such ease is a real winner. Can't believe nobody else thought of this before!rexlapin wrote:Really digging the ability to set the loop length

@Angus, i forgot the reason i was asking about cpu is cause Maschine is single core so i thought it would be higher. Can demo users post samples? I thought about starting a thread for users to post their own loops to demo what else it's capable of.

Does that mean it will be added to Geist?

I'm over the moon the presets don't sound like an 808,909,Linn etc etc... I've already got way too many samples of these and other drum synths with 100's of presets just like that.Angus_FX wrote:Anyone who doesn't like the presets - instead of just talking about it, post some audio examples what, in your opinion, it ought to sound like. Hooray for something different even if it isn't to everyones taste, lets face it is there anything which pleases everyone. No there isn't!

Both of Redacted Noodles examples really show of the wonderful organic nature of Tremor when everything isn't squashed to within an inch of it's life. Really great examples.Angus_FX wrote:@musikmachine of course, post away! the more the merrier!

The word polyrhythmic is featured pretty prominently in the description of Tremor, but I see very little in the presets that use it. I am definitely more interested in the experimental possibilities of Tremor, and am curious if I can really make anything that sounds much different from what I can do in Geist, which I already have.

Not to bang on about the quality of the presets again but unfortunately nothing shows of the creative potential of the system that well, even though a number of the presets show of the feature from a functional perspective.ravasb wrote:The word polyrhythmic is featured pretty prominently in the description of Tremor, but I see very little in the presets that use it. This video has some examples that show off the potential though.

Indeed! Might be cool to have a crack at trying to nail some of the sounds people are interested in getting!Angus_FX wrote:post some audio examples what, in your opinion, it ought to sound like. Preferably your own work, & preferably DRY, but doesn't have to be either.

Aaaggghhh, don't tell me that! I had myself convinced that Tremor would cure my Tempest-lust.ZenPunkHippy wrote: Both Tremor and Tempest are excellent drum synths, both are different enough to be worth owning, and will provide many years of tweaking good fun.

I think many people have a different idea in their heads of what analog drums really sound like. So many tracks have been made with samples and especially layered samples these days, everybody has a huge amount of drum samples available etc. analog drum sounds are only a small fraction of this world of drum samples...whitecloud wrote:I am really surprised there are so many negative impressions both with the sounds and the Seq.
Personally I think it sounds really good. Deep and Warm. Great for some things, not so great for others. I'd go so far as to say I think I'd rather have this than a Tempest for practical use.
The modulation seems like it will be really powerful once I get my head round it. One preset seemed to be automating reverb on a sound, which gave a really nice effect after tweaking the sound. Great for FXy type percussion sounds.
ONE HUGE THING MISSING
I know this is a Drum SYNTH, but I really think they need to include a SAMPLE MODULE. It's easy to do and only needs very basic controls like pitch, attack, decay, release etc. Many 'analog' drum machines basically use samples for HH and CYM anyway... I honestly can't see any reason why fxpansion wouldn't want to add this, it would then make this a complete all round drum tool. As it stands I picture myself always having to use something else (battery most likely) at the same time, where it would be great to be able to sequence everything in one. I think I could make tracks with this if it also contained sample modules.

This synth sounds great, could do without the huge cpu hit, the synth parts like on the dubstep presets,
don't need the sequencer or compressor.

I do (though I actually like the oddball stuff in Tremor) from time to time. I'm a guitar player/synth guy and often I just want to invite a drummer over for some "jams" so a good pattern lib can be very useful to get to making music instead of programming composing beats.musikmachine wrote:Lazy musos.whitecloud wrote:Who uses factory patterns anyway?VariKusBrainZ wrote:I went through a whole bunch of presets last night, hoping to pick up some tricks, alas no lol
I also thought the majority of the sounds were distorted. I tried turning down the mater out, turne dof pre and post stages but it was still there.
It would be great to have some 'rounder' sounds and I cent believe there isnt a 909 kit in there somewhere!!
Main gripe - factory patterns are really crap!
