Fxpansion have a NEW drum synth on the way!

Having used Tremor for a few evenings now, I see more clearly now why MIDI drag/drop wasn't implemented. Because the pattern for each part could be a different length, the polyrhythmic nature of the sequencer would make it very difficult to implement, unless each part was dropped/exported to the DAW on its own (i.e., one drum part per MIDI clip). I guess that's at least one option FXpansion could consider, but quite frankly, I think I actually like the options already available (i.e., record parts out to MIDI and edit them in your DAW, or trigger individual notes or patterns from your DAW) even better. It works fine for me and I actually really dig the sequencer.

I love the punchiness in Tremor, and I think that this is going to be alot of peoples Goto drum synth for punchy drum sounds. I really can see this being used in Dubstep!

Btw the 8 pad Akai LPD8 is perfect with Tremor! Considering you only get a maximum of 8 drum synths per instance.

...Just to check that all the people who are finding the range of presets limited are aware that the "next" and "prev" arrows will next/prev *within* the selected genre... use the full preset menu to move out of a genre.
Thanks for the examples of the "rounder sound", I'll go match up some Tremor stuff now...

Fully aware of how to navigate the presets fully. But I think the gist of what many people are saying is that the presets in general are over processed, so much of the subtleties available through the synthesis engine don't have a chance to come across. It's not even a case that the over processed sounds are bad, for hard hitting genres they're superb. It's just a pity that the preset selection doen't show off the full gamut of warmth the synth engine is capable off as well as the crunchier timbres.SKoT_FX wrote:...Just to check that all the people who are finding the range of presets limited are aware that the "next" and "prev" arrows will next/prev *within* the selected genre... use the full preset menu to move out of a genre.

Check out the sound demo for the latest version of MachineDrum (ignoring those examples which are sample based, so start from the TRX synthesis examples onwards).

MachineDrum really feels alive and organic. I'm pretty certain Tremor has similar capabilities but the over processing squashes the life out of the sound.
Hope this helps.

Yep, Tremor is a winner. Made a pattern i liked in 5 min - had to take a screen shot so I could remember it. Off to purchase nowSKoT_FX wrote:...Just to check that all the people who are finding the range of presets limited are aware that the "next" and "prev" arrows will next/prev *within* the selected genre... use the full preset menu to move out of a genre.

Maybe someone can help me out here... In the preset 'Club DS', the FX track is running about 1/3 the speed of the other tracks. Looked in the manual but could not find any info on setting up this function. Anyone figured it out?

Open up the setup for the engine by clicking 'Show Setup' in the middle of the synth. Then adjust the timing division located here.Rajah wrote:Maybe someone can help me out here... Yeah i was only messing.whitecloud wrote:You have a valid point now that I think about it. I'm a guitar player/synth guy and often I just want to invite a drummer over for some "jams" so a good pattern lib can be very useful to get to making music instead of programming composing beats.musikmachine wrote:Lazy musos.whitecloud wrote:Who uses factory patterns anyway?VariKusBrainZ wrote:I went through a whole bunch of presets last night, hoping to pick up some tricks, alas no lol
I also thought the majority of the sounds were distorted. I tried turning down the mater out, turne dof pre and post stages but it was still there.
It would be great to have some 'rounder' sounds and I cent believe there isnt a 909 kit in there somewhere!!
Main gripe - factory patterns are really crap!
and just love messing with synths . If you get to know the seq, I feel you will be able to create more traditional beats in no time. I feel a little guilty
as I now have Geist and am not too overly concerned that Tremors sounds and beats
aren't as traditional as some might like. I think they will play together fine, and I will start trying to combine the two in some way here pretty soon. I have a lot on my plate learning curve wise. Recently bought an Akai Miniak, got a new computer and jumped form XP 32bit. Cubase 5 Essentials 32 bit my Daw the past couple of years, Now I have Win 7 64 bit and have been demoing Cubase 6 64 bit and Reaper 64 and not sure if I'll upgrade my Cubase. 32bit bridging issues, then last December Demoed Geist and DCAM and bought them both. Soon after receiving the boxed versions, here comes this Demo of Tremor and with a tempting offer for registered customers until next month. I've turned my attention to Tremor as i would like to decide to buy before 2-9-2012
Tremor begs to be tweaked though. I'm getting all sorts of interesting sounds out of it from minimal to experimental. I'm editing tweaking and sampling in Maschine so will upload some stuff. You have to dig deep though, or wait for the sound designers to come along with the goods.
I think this is an awesome drum synth. The length, polyrhythm and clock divide mean you can go waaay beyond two bars and with the repeat and modulations you could create some insanely complex and evolving patterns.

I don't know if you found it already but you can set the graph timing and length independently as well. I didn't realize this, i thought it followed the main sequencer.Rajah wrote:Maybe someone can help me out here... Uploaded a few loops http://soundcloud.com/musikmachine/tremor-demo
Done on headphones so the levels are a bit messy and they're a bit short. Nice demos Angus and metrosonic!

I don't understand your process, I know mine is probably bizarro to most people, but couldn't you still maybe run a drum synth in another track and have Maschine send MIDI to that track?digidennis wrote:I use step sequence mode a lot, shifting left and right, parameter locks etc. etc. and don't want to have several notes on the same step.zerocrossing wrote:digidennis wrote:
I do most of my work in Maschine standalone. One thing it lacks is a decent drumsynth. I get around it by having multiple instances of Tremor and just using one engine in each. a bit waste of ressources though so please consider the light version![]()
What the...? Why not just a single instance in keyboard mode?
