Are any of you guys using this and how are you setting it up? I am using it on my main computer, but it's set to sync up with collaborators and always has like 10 gigs of files in it. I don't want to access those files from my iPad and wonder if you set up a different account name or just Sync one folder or what are you guys doing?

Also it doesn't look like here are a ton of apps that sync up with it, so I'm wondering if it's even worth it. Appreciate your impressions, tips and suggestions.

Isn't it like the desktop version where you don't actually pull the files locally unless you need them? Maybe I'm missing something here, but the whole idea of DropBox is that the files are out in the "cloud" until you need them.

The desktop version of Dropbox makes local copies of the files and syncs changes to/from the online server.

Well that would suck on iDevices, then!

[edit - but it doesn't, seems pretty smart, see below]

Edit - And, looking at their site since I was obviously a bit confuzzled in my thoughts as whyte kindly pointed out... it seems that they are fairly smart about storage on mobile devices. You have to favorite a file for offline availability of the most recent changes and it doesn't sync everything constantly (for what appear to be fairly obvious reasons).

That's how Box works as well. Not everything works with Box on iPad at the moment so guess I'll do Dropbox as well just to have more.options for getting things on and off. Thanks for pointing that out BTW, I googled but didn't find anything and assumed thata if I didn't see it on a geek forum somewhere, they certainly wouldn't have the info easily accessible the the manufacturers website.

Edit: next I gotta turn off the damn auto fill. From my reply, it looks like my native language is something other than English.
