Really hated having to do this... many good tracks there! Anyway, here are my top 5.
Preference based mostly on feeling and originality of the track. Some comments are on the soundcloud tracks themselves...
Irion Da Ronin - Beyond The Sight: 5
The theme in this track is just beautiful. Evocative and romantic, love it.
Doc Jon - Eleventh Dimension: 4
The Jarre-sque feeling of the track combines perfectly with the amazing synth programming work!
Ebow - a diva's winter daydream: 3
Like in "Beyond The Sight", evocative theme and arrangement.
dave dove - auld lang syne...: 2
This one surprised me. It has a glacial feeling which is more typical of Autechre's digital excursions, which is unexpected in a competition about an analog-sounding plugin. Love the groove of the track.
mawa - morning mood (cover): 1
The exact opposite of the "auld lang syne" track. Pure analog warmth a la Wendy Carlos. Really shows what the plugin can do.
Honorable mentions in no specific order:
Chacka - Diving with a Diva
Starts with a sick groove which I would have liked to hear more through the track!
JoeCat - Diva Rides Alone
Loved the drum programming, completely unexpected mix of western and electropop!
Bjulin - Scottish Snowfalls
Really beautiful track and sounds, love the ambience and space of it.

Hi my dear community,
wanted to post my votes yesterday evening but wasn't able to type anymore. Had to drink Gorgor's two pints and have another drink on Irion.
Feliz cumpleaños, Irion !
The last time there were so many entries (31!) was the TyrellN6 contest. Remembering well since it was very tough to find the 'chosen ones'. This time it was even harder!
But first of all: Well done to all of you One Synth Challengers!
Strong melodies, or songs that evoke pictures in my mind are more important to me than the perfect mix. To myself that's what making music is all about: Music should be the carrier of ideas, emotions and images and i always try to feel the heart that a musician gives to his songs. To instrumental music this is even more important when you don't have a singer and lyrics that tell you a story and give you the direction of the song.
Today is the third day in a row that my top 5 didn't change anymore. So here are my votes:
Aiyn-BeautifulWinter: 5 points
Wasn't so sure in the beginning. But melody and mood got me caught in the end. Reminds me of the days when i was a big Chicane and Cafe del Mar fan. This song is another proof that good tracks don't have to consist of over-complex sounds. A well deserved break at 3:30 followed by a nice drum pattern change. Very ear pleasing sounds and strong atmosphere.
Stonail-MimosaTree: 4 points
Creating space by leaving out notes. You can fill the gaps in your own imagination. Stonail is a real master in this regard. Creative use of gated reverb. Images of distant earth views instantly come to my mind.
IrionDaRonin-BeyondTheSight: 3 points
Ah yes, my good (old) friend Irion. Interesting flangy percussion, lovely melodies and the two voices leads in the break at 3:00 make me feel fine. The chord change at 3:35 makes it even better, though the change back at the end is a bit strange.
Yeager-InsertCoin: 2 points
Very driving song, well programmed sequences, anyway not too straight. I'm really amazed that this song didn't get more points so far.
GAME OVER - PLAY ANOTHER GAME? - INSERT COIN! Sure i will!
Solidtrax-LadyFromJupiter: 1 point
I'm usually not (any more) into this style but the strong melody doesn't get out of my head. Great mix and lots of details that don't become obvious when you listen to this song for the first time: e.g. good stereo panning trick on the sequencer sound and the click in the break. The duration is just perfect. Most tracks of this kind tend to be much too long.
To all i didn't mention: i've got all 31 tracks on my mp3 player (plus many other tracks from other OSCs) and they are always on my rotation. So - at least to me - this is the most important thing for a musician. The music you created will be listened to.
Cheers and have a nice sunday,
Gerald

Thanks for the lovely comment ebow! We've just missed a point. But it's not a shame to lose it to aiynebow wrote:solidtrax - lady from jupiter....firstly, i concur with the idea of a name change...though this is, indeed, a solid track, your artist name brings to mind crap karaoke backing tapes, something this certainly isn't
this was another contender for the prize that i eventually gave to aiyn..but really enjoyed this...loved the 'ppk' bleep lead...but agian, too long, with not enough change to hold interest
Thanks V'ger! It's very nice to hear that you find our sounds top (notch).V'ger wrote:1 pt: Solidtrax - Lady From Jupiter
Nicely made track with a good vibe and top sounds all round. Another playlist keeper but would have benefited with slightly more variation.
Thanks IrionDaRonin! Good to hear about good things of our mastering !IrionDaRonin wrote: 5) SolidTrax - 1 Point
Sticked to brain melody, nice groovy chords in a well mastered and quality track.
Thanks bmrzycki!bmrzycki wrote: Solidtrax - Lady From Jupiter: 2

And that you can't get the melody out of your head is a big compliment, thanks!

Greetings to your mother for raising you with good music!pocvecem wrote:@V'ger:
I grew up with my mother listening to Tubular Bells, Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Tangerine Dream, King Crimson and Camel.
Hence my addiction to long evolving songs and soundscapes.
