So I caved in, and bought an Ipad today. Just a few questions:
1. Since the Ipad has an USB compatible cable is it therefor possible to route the sound from the Ipad to my PC?
2. Is there a decent sample editor?
That's about it for now.

Hokusai Audio Editor is talked about a lot, though I've not used it. Free, but you have to pay for features like fx, AudioCopy\Paste etc. See http://www.wooji-juice.com/products/hokusai/.
