Impresive to say the least, maybe I should would on buying a new PC ... :hihi:

Anyway we need ANDROID SUPPORT TOO and SOON (as a general request for these APP makers).

Hmm. They says it's an app, but surely there must be some external hardware involved for processing.
Or an iPad 3, iOS 6 only app, hence the Q1 release.

Looks amazing.. how it's even possible on current iPads is beyond me though..

Looks to be audio only, no midi :(

It would just be amazing to have something like that on the iPad. I'm sure it will come something similar one day, but IMHO it's still too early for it.

for the iPad 4???

I'm not sure what you're talking about. The video clearly shows the software running on the iPad 2. Whether it works smoothly or not will be seen once it has been released.

I think the more interesting aspect of the release is the 'VSTi' plug ins. Looks like they have something in place (perhaps with a few key developers)

Personally just a good midi sequencer, sampler and the ability to run VSTi plugs could signal the end of the 'workstation' as we know it. Just drop this on a midi keyboard and you have it all, with a top of the range touch screen.

If the new iPAD 3 is retina and quad core as everyone seems to think, then combined with software like this (and all the iPAD keyboards like synthstation 49) and we perhaps have a paradigm shift? (iOS - the OS of your new SYNTH WORKSTATION?- the sheer volume of iPADs will make it hard for anyone to compete in terms of touch disply/processing power and a stable OS to develop and deply on)

It looks stunning. If they really can deliver on this then it's some sort of voodoo magic. I'm looking forward to it.

Add in a decent USB audio interface and I can imagine a lot of folks would use this rather then a dedicated DAW. The workflow could be quite quick.

EDIT: The more I look at the video the more I think it's just a virtual controller for an app running on a PC. I can't see any other way it's achievable.

EDIT no 2: I've changed my mind. It's real. It's programmed with pixie dust.

Hi Everyone,

Yep, Auria definitely runs on the iPad 2 (as well as the iPad 1); the A4 processor in the iPad is actually quite capable.

Auria loads VST plugins (i.e. effects), it doesn't load any VSTi's (i.e. instruments), as it's currently focused as a digital audio workstation. Might we look at adding sequencing at some point? Sure, but somewhere down the road. It took quite a lot of development to get to where Auria is right now.

There are several plugin manufacturers working with us already, like PSPaudioware, Fabfilter, and Overloud. Plus we have a lot of meetings scheduled at NAMM with other plugin companies about working together, so we're hoping to have tons of other plugins available.

Speaking of NAMM, if anyone will be at the show later this week, we'll be showing Auria in our booth (Hall A #6905), so swing by and check it out.

Good Luck Matt

The plug in company to work with (IMHO) for 'plug in's' would be line 6, as adding guitar & vocal effects would add a lot of value, and they also have their rompler to cover the basics if you go midi type sequencing.

If its audio only, you definately need guitar effects in.

We're actually working with Overloud. TH2 will be available on Auria at the time of release:

Will these plugins have adapted interfaces for the iPad? I think one of the main problems with hosting VST's must be that many of them have lots of fiddly small knobs and buttons - not very ergonomic on a touch interface.

Post

Auria supports VST plug-ins that have been converted (by the plug-in developer) to iOS format. It's not a difficult thing to do, and we have an easy to use SDK available for any developers interested. There are many developers already porting plugins to iOS, and we'll be talking to a lot more at NAMM.

And that includes redesigning the gui to touch interface standards?

Post

The porting process involves recompiling the plugin in Xcode under iOS, then porting over the graphics as you see fit. If your plugin uses the JUCE framework, we can provide you with a custom JUCE library that's iOS ready, making the GUI part of the porting job a lot easier.
