i've got the problem that many others have . . . "chirping" sounds that arise out of PCs w/ audio applications. it usually starts after an hour or so of audio work, and is by far not program-specific, as it occurs in Kore, Maschine, Sonar, Winamp, and for others, countless other audio-related applications. i've searched high and low online for solutions, but haven't found anything that sounded definitive. the only thing that i've found that can kill the "chirping" is a system reboot. also, from my research online, the "chirping" glitch does not seem specific to any sort of soundcard, operating system, or PC/Mac. just thought i'd post here about it to see if anyone else has had this problem (or still has it) and what they've done to fix it

Do you find a correlation with screen redraws or disk activity?
It's usually RF interference: the electrical signals of the computer finding a way into the audio path. Cheap onboad sound chips suffer far more than dedicated audio interfaces which have the analog audio signal path shielded off from the mayhem of electrical fields emtted by computer components.
And having a mild form of a ground loop can enhance it also in my experience.

not really, because i could leave Winamp open and playing audio, with nothing else going on, and after a while, the chirping will begin. so i don't know if that is adding screen draws:(

Have you tried the usual setup things for the PC? Set for max performance, disable speed stepping in the BIOS etc?

no haven't checked the BIOS for that feature. maybe will do it tonight. what effect would that have on what could be causing the "chirping"

What motherboard, soundcard and OS? Might be hardware or could be a squirrely driver.

Powersaving causes quite a few side effects, they may affect audio. Its also relevent to happening after a certain time period.

looks like i fixed the "audio chirping" problem, which was very aggravating BTW ... got rid of wireless mouse. voila!

Get a better audio card or increase the latency in the audio preference
