I will be offering discounts to existing customers on The Drop (when it is ready!), and I will also offer the same total discount saving to new customers if they buy both The Glue and The Drop at once.
I understand you. I don't agree, but I respect your opinion. :)

I will wait until you either change your mind or another product lures me more. :hihi:

At $99, I think The Glue is already extremely reasonably priced. But yeah, you could always wait for IK to create an SSL sim, then wait 12 months when they blow it out as part of 4 for 1 Group Buy. Or you could get The Glue now...

I'm glad to know how you feel. I don't feel the same. If they don't want to have a sale, as I said before, I can respect that. However, I just won't buy.

Andy, as a recent buyer of The Glue I'd like to thank you for having that standpoint on sales/discounts.

Nothing would piss me off more than buying a piece of software, say in October, and then a month later for Black Friday/Cyber Monday that same piece of software is half off or whatever. Or for that matter a random sale just after I bought it. That's why a lot of ratail stores back a 30-day policy about lower price differences. Remember the Circuit City commercials? Now older software at discount I understand...

Now...discounts for current customers. That is good. And it's a mentality I use for my own business. New client? Hell no you don't get a dicount. Use my services a few times, yes. 10 hour block of recording time vs. 3 hours? 10 is cheaper by the hour, yep.

And yeah, $100 for this software is a DEAL/STEAL. It's one of the best software compressors out there so stop bitching about sales. Because it IS on sale compared to other top shelf compressors.

You must get pissed off quite a bit then. There is not an area of the consumer marketplace where this does not happen on a regular basis. Cars, food, clothes, computers, even houses. You name it, market forces will discount it at various and often unpredictable times. Software is no different.

I respect Andy's stance, and as the dev of an excellent and popular piece of kit, he has the option to set whatever price point he wishes. But the notion that software buyers should somehow be immune to market forces defies logic.

BTW, Circuit City went bankrupt years ago. Perhaps because they thought the laws of economics didn't apply to them? :hihi:

So many plugins, so little time...

Andy is selling The Glue for dirt cheap.

If I bought it for a lower price, I'd feel like I'm ripping the dude off!

When it comes to supporting a developer I usually buy direct.

I'll only buy used if the software is real expensive.
e.g Lexicon or Softube's CL1B.

Not of much use for me, but I hope it works out great for you and would be a great commercial success for your company!

News Update: I've installed Lion and I'm well into work on the v1.1.7 release which will officially support Lion and fix a few graphics issues people have been having, as well address problems some people are having with RTAS on Win 7.

It has taken quite some time because the bootcamp assistant and the windows restore program both decided to delete a hard drive each, so I was left with having to restore from several week old backup and re-install Lion and re-do several weeks work. Thanks for your patience all the people that have reported problems!

That's rough!

The Glue v1.2.0 (beta) is now released:
  • New: Mac OS 10.7 (Lion) officially supported
  • New: ProTools 10 officially supported for RTAS plugins (AAX still to come)
  • New: latency for oversampling has fixed length for better support of various hosts
  • Fixed: all keystrokes now passed through to all hosts in AU version
  • Fixed: RTAS not loading on Windows 7 machines
I've now made the linear phase oversampling engine to have a fixed latency, so now rendering will work in Cubase and other hosts that can't handle a change in latency on render. I've also updated the code so that when the power button is toggled the latency still remains fixed, so audio will remain in phase even when bypassed.

For those, like me, that have been annoyed for a long time with The Glue AU stealing keystrokes in Ableton Live, I finally worked out how to fix the issue. It also fixes the 'esc' key being stolen as well, so now in Logic you can close the plugin window again as expected when using the AU.
