hi guys
i was wondering what is your favourite plug in effect for "soft" saturation" to apply onto your master stero output bus of your song, just to coulour it a little bit, and what parameters you suggest for this
i know it depends on everything but...just for suggestions?

Melda MLimiter/MMultiBandSaturator or PSP Vintage Warmer. Both can be very complex but also very simple to use. E.g. in PSP Vintage Warmer, just increase the Knee a tad and you'll get saturation. In MLimiter just use the initial preset and play with the threshold to dial in the amount of saturation. Also, play with the even harmonics percentage to blend between tube/valve saturation and tape saturation.

i always use FerricTDS for this. it can go from very subtle saturation to a lot less subtle saturation.

I'd use this on the master & on tracking, mixing into it.CANE CREEK wrote:Kush UBK-1![]()

Main reason why I mentioned UBK-1 here is because it's half price at the moment.
When released it was $299 and I've had my eye on it waiting for AU version, was well surprised when AU was released and NNAM special made it $149

Until there's no VST version, I think I'm not able to test it. Haven't installed PT in quite a while to be honest *cough PT7.4* - so even a price drop wouldn't help atm.

I've tried the Waves Kramer MPX and had some decent, distinctive results but until I have enough for the UA Ampex, I'll use the Studer A800 for the master bus as well. Yes, intended for individual tracks but it sounds a little better to me when subtlety is desired than compared to the waves Kramer and even the CDSoundmasters VTMM2 - which perhaps is too subtle; for me, it is hard to hear what it is doing until it is driven into the red - at that point I am no longer dealing with subtle saturation then am I? - so...I go back to the UA Studer. I would imagine the Slate VCC and Stripbus could do some nice console style saturation too - I am now very curious how the new Waves console plug-in sounds. I know that is a different type of 'Saturation' but still desirable in many instances.
I need to check out this UBK1 - looks very intriguing - sometimes I feel totally 'out of it'.
