well, check out some of his other posts around here, seems he really loves some soft synths, even tho they are a rip offstandalone wrote:An hour before.......aquar wrote:I actually don't give a shit how much high quality hardware costs and if I did I'd purchase the real deal and free myself of all the bullshit softsynths offer me.
Soft Synths are exactly what they say on the tin. Soft.
Sure there are a lot of mugs here that will do anything to find an edge over their competitors in the vain hope that they can somehow purchase success but I am not one of them.

I am still a huge fan of Zebra which never fails to bring a smile to my face when I want to dial up something new and unusual.

So you're saying that he'd made absolutely nothing at that point? Okay.... I can see why you'd think that it was overpriced, even though it was heavily reduced. You'd prefer him to have made less than nothing at that point... that makes sense.aquar wrote:Dont get me wrong I am all for the developers making a cool return for their hard work but I am sure Urs said he'd returned his entire research and development costs within a week or so of releasing it.
Indeed. Because, now that he's recouped his costs, he doesnt need to pay any wages or have an income. Yay!That suggests to me that something isn't quite right.
Its two pints of beer and a pack of cigarettes a week for 2 months. I guess you're right; no-one who isnt 'rich' could afford that sort of expenditure. But even so its a rich mans toy.

Actually I've never loved softsynths.Kriminal wrote:well, check out some of his other posts around here, seems he really loves some soft synths, even tho they are a rip offstandalone wrote:An hour before.......aquar wrote:I actually don't give a shit how much high quality hardware costs and if I did I'd purchase the real deal and free myself of all the bullshit softsynths offer me.

I tolerate them.
But feel free to quote some of the posts where I say I love the sound of any soft synth.
Go on Krim I dare you to find a single post where I've said I love the sound of any soft Synth.

What kind of rubbish logic is that? Your basically saying that because a soft-synth can be pirated, it has no value.... lmao.aquar wrote:I actually don't give a shit how much high quality hardware costs and if I did I'd purchase the real deal and free myself of all the bullshit softsynths offer me.

I grew up in an age where talent counted for far more than anything that you could buy.
Hardware Synths give you something tangible, something you can touch. Something you can't download from another torrent site and something you can prolly sell in many years to come and in some cases at a profit.
Try selling a software license in 10 years time and see how much you will get.
You'd prolly get more for a blunt bic disposable razor.
Really the soft synth era is a ripoff of the highest order (imo)
Frankly I don't give a damn where or when you grew up. You do realise that hardware synths have their cons too? Though I don't really want to go there...

Well, of course. But only if you were rich and could afford £90, yeah?aquar wrote:I grew up in an age where talent counted for far more than anything that you could buy.

I said I love the unique sounds of the Prophet 5.
I never said I loved the sounds of the Native Instruments version of it.
Big differnce.
Trust you to twist and distort what I was saying.

from: what is your favourite vst
aquar wrote:Z3ta+
Even though it sounds digital to the extreme to my ears.
The Pro5 is a very close second, I think both Vst's compliment each other very well though.
The Z3ta+ imo is a misunderstood Vst due to the strange interface, obviously there's a learning curve involved but it becomes rewarding once you get your head around it.
As for the Pro5, well its very much a what you see is what you get kind of synth but I just love the unique sounds it generates with a little tweaking.

Its kind of hard to twist and distort something by quoting it without changes, but this was in a thread titled 'What is your favourite VST instrument' and your full reply wasaquar wrote:whyterabbyt wrote:aquar wrote:Go on Krim I dare you to find a single post where I've said I love the sound of any soft Synth.http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 04#2031104aquar wrote:As for the Pro5, well its very much a what you see is what you get kind of synth but I just love the unique sounds it generates with a little tweaking.

Krim your downfall is you assume too much.Kriminal wrote:and when asked 'what synth cant you live without', he replied 'sylenth1'....so i would imagine he must love it a little bit if he cant live without it
I'll stick with Sylenth though because imo its about the only softsynth I've ever purchased that actually somehow finds its way into every project.
But Love is a strong word and often over used amongst gearheads around this place.
