I wonder if there is a way (freeware/shareware) to 'acidize' a wav loop?
I know soundforge does this, but it is expensive just to do that. So perhaps there is another solution?

I just investigated, and sure enough, AD80 is right! Just load the wave file you want to acidize into a track. Then, in the Track Info tab set all the acidized info you need (root key, number of beats, loop type, etc.). Then right-click the wave display with the beat counters, and select Save As to save the new, acidized loop. The next time you load that loop into an acid-friendly software, the info will be there.
Cheers, AD80!!

Sound forge XP has all the looping tools that full blown sf has. I think they call it "screen blast" now. Are you just trying to assign properties to pre-cut up loops or are you trying to extract loops from a longer performance?
anyway, the screen blast version does everything sound forge does (in terms of loop editing) except it won't open 24-bit files. I can't verify this right now becuse i can't get on sony's website.

Hi Rony,
For whatever reason, I am unable to get to Sony, but they own Sonic Foundry now. You can find ScreenBlast Acid, a cut-down of Acid Pro 4 that may be what you are looking for as Kerry Stated. Also, you will find ScreenBlast Sound Forge 7, which is a cut-down version of Sony Sound Forge 7. They have demos of all of them, and also comparison charts, which are very helpful. It is a real pain in the butt to get to their site sometimes, like right now, so I am unable to give you a direct link. Just search for ScreenBlast Acid or ScreenBlast Sound Forge.
There is a product called "Wave Surgeon." It can be found at http://www.squarecircle.co.uk/. They have 2 versions, one for $35 and the other for $52. I have their slightly more expensive product called Mobius, and it costs $99. I like it a lot. I haven't used it, but I think a lot of people really like Wave Surgeon. They have demo versions of all of their products.
Also, you can go to:
http://www.beatcreator.com
There, you will find Seamless Looper for $40 and BeatCreator 2 for $80. Both Seamless Looper and BeatCreator 2 are excellent. BeatCreator Pro is going to be released "very" soon. There is still a beat version available, which is up to "v25." You can give them all a test run.
I hope you will find something you need and like.

Thanks you all for your answers. I'm downloading AcidXpress now and will have it a try. I looked at the product but they don't specify that they can create the acid markers for a loop.
My problem is not to create the loops, i have them created. The only thing I want to do is ad the ACID markers to it.
The reason for that is that I have a lot of loops,I've created myself, and want to put them on a CD to sell them (very cheap !!). The style is rock, slowrock, balade (sorry for the technos here
. Browsing the internet and looking at other loop providers they all specify that there loops are acidized. So I suppose that this is a requirement for loops now ?
I'll keep you informed
Thanks,
Rony
