Based on that example, it sounds like ubermod could be a good plug-in to get old warbly pitch tape sounds out of. True?
Try the "Colors" folder under ÜberMod presets. There is a "WarmNwarbly" preset that I like. It stereo-izes the signal more than actual tape processes, as it does different warbles for left and right.

I'm working on something for ÜberMod that might add some serious strange vintage mojo, assuming it works. Which it may not. That's why I leave room in the MODES area - to try out new ideas, and release them in an update if the ideas work.

Another Monotribe/ÜberMod experiment:

http://soundcloud.com/seancostello/uberwaltz

2 Monotribe tracks, 3 instances of ÜberMod, 1 ValhallaRoom instance in there.

The bass is processed by ÜberMod in 8Tap mode to create a unison effect. I should probably create a "Unison" preset folder that is separate from the Chorus folder, as ValhallaÜberMod does a good job of making a cheap 1 osc synth (i.e. the Monotribe) sound like a much richer multioscillator synth. This is then fed through another instance of ÜberMod set up as a tape-ish echo.

The chordal sound is one of the weird 8Tap glitch shifting presets that I shared earlier this week, processing a single high sawtooth note of ÜberMod. This is then fed through ValhallaRoom to add a bit of sustain and glue.

I'll get the detailed presets from my Logic project later today.

Another ÜberMod example, featuring a unicorn playing a Moog Rogue through ÜberMod unison and tape echo presets:

I'm finishing up the work on ValhallaÜberMod version 1.0.1 today. Apart from a few bug fixes, the big new feature is the InputPan mode selector, which allows you to control whether the input is sent to the delays in stereo, reverse stereo, mono, left, or right. In conjunction with the fBMix control, you can get some cool ping pong effects this way.

I'm adding a few new preset folders to ÜberMod:

- PingPong
- Doubling
- Unison (for synth effects)

Any other presets or preset categories people want to see in there?

It happens. I had the same experience with COMPassion. I loved EQuality, and fully expected to go bananas for COMPassion, but just couldn't get into it. I'm hoping that I'll gel with COMPact once that one comes out. Had the same thing happen with PSP's Old Timer, but I digress.

That said, I've completely clicked with the Valhalla plugs. The new Ubermod updates sound like they'll make for great additions.

A new demo, where the Korg Monotribe is run through an ÜberMod setting that combines a VP330-esque ensemble with diffusion reverb:

http://soundcloud.com/seancostello/uberensembleverb330

The beginning of the track is the raw Monotribe sound, and the effect is slowly faded in until it is 100% wet.

The preset:

<ValhallaUberMod pluginVersion="1.0.1b3" presetName="EnsembleVerb330" Mix="1" Depth="0.535000026" StereoWidth="0.5" Delay="0.00939999986" Feedback="0.745999992" Spread="0.5" Slope="0.5" Skew="0.5" Random="0" TapGain="0.5" Diffusion="1" DiffSize="0.346938789" DiffModRate="0.0490490496" DiffModDepth="0.5" LowCut="0" HighCut="0.58793968" SpatialXover="0.145728648" DetuneRate="0.0260260254" DetuneDepth="0.783999979" VibratoRate="0.331829578" VibratoDepth="0.164000005" OverMod="0" DriveInGain="0.375" DriveOutGain="0.75" DriveNoiseGain="0.333333343" FeedbackRotate="1" SmoothingTime="0.0990990996" ColorMode="0" DelaySync="0" type="0.0833333358" DiffEnable="1" Drive="0" DrivePrePost="1" Speed="1" InputPan="0.125"/>

I have not even demo'd UMod but i can pretty much tell that i will be happy as larry with it as i have checked out most of the audio examples and course will demo it before buying

All the best :)

Thread hijack:

Sean, you mentioned over in the Vroom thread about possibly looking at your older code (pitch shifting, iirc?) and mulling over some ideas about repurposing it with reverse delay, etc. Any tiny baby bit sorta progress with that?

Those would be on the "future" plugin list, and not ÜberMod or the next plugin in the queue.

I'll announce it when it's done. :D It will be a few months to finish up.

The immediate next item in the queue is ValhallaÜberMod version 1.0.1. After that, probably updating the other plugins as needed.

I'm working on a plugin that has a lot of the work done already (it was actually something I started in 2010, but moved on to other work), and have R&D cooking on a few new ones.

Just a quick update about this "something" I alluded to earlier: I got it working this weekend. It didn't added vintage mojo. It actually added a lot of SUCK. And not in a way that could be considered remotely useful. It just sounded bad. So, I've put that idea into the "doesn't work" pile.

A few happy progress reports for ÜberMod:

I've just finished a new blog post, describing the TAPS parameters in ÜberMod:

http://valhalladsp.wordpress.com/2012/0 ... arameters/

I'll try to get some more of the "manual" done today. It takes a while to write up these descriptions, and I haven't even started on the Tips & Tricks. Plus, right now I HATE writing, so I'll gladly put it off for any other task. But ÜberMod is complicated, and needs documentation, so I'll keep working on it.

More good news is that I hope to get the 1.0.1 beta ready for testing by late tonight/early tomorrow. This has been largely complete for the past several days, but I haven't been able to test the RTAS plugin on my own gear, as the iLok2 fell under a couch. :help: I found it this morning, so I'll test the Windows/OSX Pro Tools versions of ÜberMod, and then build the installers.
