I will work on a glam shot of my little setup as well- but interested in seeing what iOS/Android musicians are doing for their setup as well (might give us all some ideas). Remember to have everything powered on and some app running. Inlcude a description of what devices you have including mounting devices (or if anything was handmade).

I use my iPad in the Alesis IO Dock. I use it stand alone running a drum machine, Kaossillator, TNRi etc and run it through some FX such as my Alesis ModFx collection and record the results then cut up into loops in my DAW.
I also use it as a sound module and control synths via midi and record into my DAW. That's how I did things before I got into VSTi, it was all midi in the 90's.
I also use it as a controller for Alchemy.
I use my iPhone in the SynthStation 25 and I can do the same treatments as my iPad.
The best thing about the iPad and the IO Dock is that it bridges the gap between Hardware and Software. I can use the iPad as a drum machine, Synth, Workstation, FX unit, media player. It's like having one piece of hardware but it can be anything depending on the software it runs.
Why would you need a Hardware VA when the iPad runs good synths like Sunriser, iMS-20, Alchemy, Addictive, Animoog.

For me Android is a no go pretty much since my phone has way too limited power to run any advanced software. I should mention though that I've bought Uloops for Android, as well as Nanoloop. But I have no doubt that Android 4.0 will feature better support though. I only got Android 2.1 on my Samsung Galaxy Spica. I'm still pleased with my phone, but music on it. No no.
As for my Ipad2 I got:
Drums: Rebirth, iElectribe
DAWs: FL Studio Pro, Garageband, iSequencer, Beatwave
Misc: Omni TR (which doesn't even work properly), and I think it's named Voice Plus.
