Rhetorical (maybe..) question:-
Why would a software company spend north of $20,000 exhibiting at NAMM and demoing to maybe a couple of hundred people, when same would buy some top-notch videos that anyone worldwide can watch, hookers & blow for the reviewers at all the major magazines, and enough banner ads to wallpaper KvR & GS for a month or two?
disclaimer: FXpansion have never knowingly bought hookers or blow for any magazine reviewer.

Yeah, I'm actually stunned that there still are so many usb 1.1 soundcards and even some quite new ones.hibidy wrote:

WOW! Didnt' know it cost that much. I agree with you 100% then, it's illogical for software devs to go to that show.Angus_FX wrote: Why would a software company spend north of $20,000 exhibiting at NAMM

The booth itself doesn't, but add in booth furniture, equipment rentals, hotel rooms, long-haul flights, not to mention a week (or more like two, once you allow for preparation, travel, jetlag, and getting over the inevitable NAMM 'flu) of working time that can't be used for anything else, it very quickly adds up.
Sure if you're a software developer based in LA, you can (in theory) just drive over with a couple of trestle tables, but most are visiting from afar.

Well Eric at Spectrasonics confirmed they won't be announcing products at NAMM now. They want to do it their own way and on their own time schedule. Makes sense.
