... that is, Buy One Get One Free :)
Well, actually they are both free :roll:

The Storm was originally composed for the kara-moon Autumn Review, whereas Closer Than The Dance is a slightly improved version of a collaboration with offthewall for one of the Cafe competitions yonks ago.

So without further ado:

The Storm ogg or mp3

Closer Than The Dance ogg or mp3

I hope you enjoy these :)
It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

The Storm - classic, man v nature song story. I felt there might be an ironic ending coming like he gets home to discover his family has left him. Good to hear your voice again, nicely done!

Closer Than The Dance - sweet and melancholy, with kind of drunken country overtones. Could almost use a vinyl effect.

The Storm was a great (as Matt said) 'story' song, nicely arranged with some tasty guitar breaks. And Closer Than the Dance is just charming. Nice to hear you singing - you sound a bit like Robert Wyatt (maybe an octave or so lower) :)

I enjoyed The Storm. The atmosphere you generated on here was just right. The whole track was nicely understated. Was that a Telecaster on here? It sounded like Edgar Froese on Ricochet (minus distortion).

Closer Than The Dance reminded me of Mull of Kintyre (I guess it was that waltz timing). I loved the little solo. Was that Zyn?

Nice tunes Will. :)

Thanks guys - very pleased you like these :)

@seismic
My guitar is a squier tele clone, and I add all the effects in the DAW. That flute was a moderately good soundfont drenched in reverb. I've been trying to get something like that with Zyn. for ages, but not succeeded so far :(

i really like the fragility of your voice :tu:

The storm. Great piece.
A very nice voice, as usual. I'm sure Robert Wyatt likes your voice, Folderol.
I don't like the guitar, poor and too loud, IMO.

But, again, so nice voice.

Liked the tunes.
For my ear, the melodies were reminiscent of very early King Crimson.
Clever chorus lines....not the dancing sort. :)
....................Don`t blame me for 'The Roots', I just live here. :x

...nice two songs folderol! I enjoyed especially "closer than the dance" and listened twice :-)
no showing off, no bells and whistles, just giving a nice melody as a gift to the listener. thanks for sharing!

Thanks again :)

@Daniel.
I agree the guitar leaves something to be desired. In my defense I'll say this is the first time I've made a serious attempt to use distortion effects.

Loved them both! I was reminded of this song when hearing you sing:

Now it may not seem THAT great to be compared to a (long dead) drunk homeless man, but trust me, it is! That piece of singing while not technically great is so full of subtle emotion and haunting depth it hurts.

You're not quite there yet, emotionally (and hopefully won't be for any of the same reasons at least :)), but I really like your singing!

Bump.
