Rhino Envelope Sync in Cubase SX 2

Been having a bit of a problem setting up a simple patch with Rhino.

Basically, I'm following Tutorial 3 to set up a pitch envelope synced to host tempo as follows....

1) Clear a patch to default settings using 'Clear' on the bank page
2) In Oscillator 1, use the 'Batman 1' wave
3) Set up the pitch envelope as shown in tutorial 3 (except not synced at this stage)
4) Set the 'Pitch Mod' slider to 12
5) Press a note, all is well, getting an octave change in pitch that cycles as expected
6) Press the envelope's 'sync' button.
7) Press a note. Get a 'buzzy' sound independent of host tempo. Change host tempo (from 1 BPM to 240 BPM) and makes no apparent difference to this buzzy sound.

Yet, I can load the banks that use tempo synced envelopes e.g. 'Electroloops' bank, and it seems to play fine with tempo syncing envelopes working as expected.

Edit : I can also load one of the supplied preset rhythmic envelopes and it works just fine.

I wonder if anyone with SX2 can run what I've just done and see if it does the same, or maybe I could e-mail the patch to someone and they could take a look and see if I've done something stupid (always a possibility!).

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Additional :

There's definitely something strange in the way envelope sync affects the envelope.

I can set up an envelope which works fine without sync, but when sync is applied then the 'pre sustain' and 'post sustain' part of the envelope does not work as expected (the pre sustain envelope jumps to it's 'dotted line' position immediately, and the post sustain envelope jumps to it's final point immediately).

I have saved this envelope so if anyone could test it on their setup, let me know and I'll e-mail it.

I came across that same bug a few weeks back and it is already fixed in Rhino 2.0! In the meantime, the best workaround is to start with an ElectroLoops preset and edit it rather that starting from scratch. Or, you could ask 'Tick for a pre-release version of the update (.dll only) which is still under construction.

Oh cool thanks for the info Daniel.

No probs, I can wait for Rhino 2.0, and in the meantime as a workaround I can load envelope settings and tweak them to taste from the already supplied envelopes, or use an already tempo synced patch as you say, it seems to work fine that way for some reason. It only happens to me when I create an envelope from scratch from the cleared default settings.

Weird, but already fixed you say, so all's well.

Thanks again,

Steve

Indeed. Sorry about that bug, but at this stage I'd rather not bother you with a small update, since there's the big one coming soon :-)
If you start from one of the included tempo-synced envelopes (you can load them using the right-click menu), I believe you won't run into the problem.

Happy Rhino programming,
