Super HARD supersaw?

Hi there,
I've been tweaking, tweaking and tweaking supersaws, splitting frequencies, processing via paralell compression etc etc trying to achieve this "hard" supersaw, it really is super hard and it's really hard to get it this "spikey", how do I achieve the same sound as the supersaws in the drop in this mix?
http://soundcloud.com/ziggy-stardust/zi ... c-original (starts @ 0.53)
All answers are really appreciated!
I've also tried layering sounds, but it's SO hard to get like this, I might do something wrong, please help me out? This is after all, not a too complex sound? in fact, it should be really easy to achieve this sound, but I really can't handle it.
I've done the sidechain effect and all that, so please don't say "try sidechain", that sound help.
I think the mainproblem is the punch in the beginning, how do I achieve that? it gives a really vast feeling of "HERE it exploads!"
Thanks!

It's layered with noise and gated. I suspect the actual chords will be rendered to audio and then run through an audio gate.

Yep I've done that too, but that doesnt effect the overall supersaw sound, it's only the effect you're talking about.. I'm talking about the SUPERSAW sound itself, I've tried noise aswell! it still doesn't sound as supersaw'y like his..tehlord wrote:It's layered with noise and gated. What synth are you using? Sylenth (for example) has a much harder and brighter supersaw sound than Dune (for example).
Perhaps try JP6k as that's modelled on the 8080 original.
Might be worth posting up your example as well.

Iv'e tried Sylenth1, Massive and Zebra 2. JP6k doesn't exist for MAC i reckon? I'm a MAC user :/tehlord wrote:What synth are you using? Sylenth (for example) has a much harder and brighter supersaw sound than Dune (for example).

Just got home, the project is in the studio, I'll post it as soon as I get there tomorrow and you'll see how far I've come, thanks for the inputs so far. If you come across any idea that would make it even more punchy or so, I'd appreciate all the tips.tehlord wrote:Yeah it's PC only.
Post up what you've done so far.
Cheers!

That is true, but I think mine is doing that aswell, it's just the actual sound that I'm after. It sounds really hard and sawy with alot of upper harmonics to me..blindasfcuk wrote:Well the chord is hittin on the kick so thats adding a bit more punch to it

Yep, Sylenth and try to add noise. Just a little. Almost all to the left. It does magic with filter and fills the little gaps between unisono voices.

noise as in a noise oscillator or in a seperate synth?FarleyCZ wrote:Yep, Sylenth and try to add noise. Just a little. Almost all to the left. It does magic with filter and fills the little gaps between unisono voices.

In same synth. It's important. It needs to go trough same filters as OSC's do. Kinda hard to miss one OSC trying to do big sound in Sylenth, but trust me, try it.
Remember, just a little of it.
(btw that I meeant by to the left, not panning
)
