Voxengo CurveEQ 3.0 spline equalizer plugin released

January 30, 2012: Voxengo is pleased to announce the release of CurveEQ version 3, a spline equalizer plugin for professional music and audio production applications, available in AudioUnit and VST plug-in formats (including native 64-bit support), for Mac OS X (v10.5 and later), and Windows computers.



CurveEQ shows you the actual filter response you are designing by means of a spline (a smooth curvy line), so you can actually see what the EQ is doing with the sound. This, in turn, allows you to get the best from your mix and your tracks. CurveEQ perfectly suits the needs of mastering, and in some cases CurveEQ is suitable for use as an in-track equalizer.

CurveEQ implements spectrum matching technology that allows you to transfer spectrum's shape of one recording to another. In other words, this allows you to "copy" frequency balance of existing time-proven mixes so that other mixes that are still in the works may have a chance to sound better. This technology also greatly helps in music mastering since using it allows you to easily lessen any dramatic differences in the area of frequency balance between various tracks.

CurveEQ's filters can be switched between linear- and minimum-phase modes. CurveEQ also features a deeply-customizable spectrum analyzer like the one found in Voxengo GlissEQ and SPAN plug-ins. You may also display, save and load static spectrum plots for comparison and matching purposes.

it's good to see VurveEQ V3 but what about the vintage processor, the saturator and gear match. They seem to be not present any more, which is a pity and will probably stop me from updating. I hope I am wrong.

AKJ, yes, these features are gone in this version. I've decided to produce a "plain" equalizer without features that are not related to equalizing directly.

I take the first spectrum from a sound

I apply one to the other and then promptly throw my headphones across the room where they explode into a million pieces and cause my cat to become so startled that she knocks over a lamp which starts a fire that quickly gets out of control and burns down half my city.

You did it right, but the spectrums as you can see have completely different bandwidth. Beside that, you've set "Apply to" to a wrong spectrum.

I tried to apply the spectrum of the first sound to the second sound and that's the configuration I think I used. That is traditionally how it works in similar plugins isn't it? Doing it the other way around causes a reverse effect of extreme quietness.

Different bandwidth never has had this loudness effect on other spectrum matching plugins, especially because this type of effect is great for creative experimental shaping.

edit: I think this would be the right plugin for you to break into the youtube product demonstration video area of marketing because of the risk of extreme loudness and damage to peoples ears and equipment.

In this case first spectrum should be marked as "Reference", not "Apply To". The spectrum you are applying reference to should be marked as "apply to".

That's a really sad decision. I hope, you change your mind and reintegrate these features. Why did you take away that what made your product unique?
