I would stay with live if they did a complete rewrite and got ride of all the bloated code. After maintaining a product for 10+ years they need to really dig into the software and fix the many problems and add all the features that users have been asking about for many years.christianmusicmaker wrote:Same here. Ableton likely will wait and see. Likely they will add what they can (code permitting) to Live 9 from BW which will nullify some of the uniqueness for me.
But I really like what I see with BWS and it probably has a place in my set up but I want to see what is in Live 9 (if it is out this year) as at best for now BWS would be an additional host for more creative uses here (replacing Project 5) not replacing anything else in my set up currently.
You don't write code for a living,do you ?felonytrance wrote: I would stay with live if they did a complete rewrite and got ride of all the bloated code.

If you have a problem with Bitwig then I suggest you get a box of bon-bons and a pint of Ben & Jerrys rocky road and have a good cry in your snuggie while watching General Hospital. I hear that Olivia is about to learn of Maggie and Stevens past.
I understand how difficult this is, as i'm sure you understand that without a rewrite ableton has stated that they can not implement some of the most often requested features that BS has claimed will be available in their software. Yes there are max and other types of workaround but not that many people want to pay $300 for simple features.jupiter8 wrote:You don't write code for a living,do you ?felonytrance wrote: I would stay with live if they did a complete rewrite and got ride of all the bloated code.

These music software companies are made up of grown adults who can dress themselves and brush their own teeth and can pretty much do what they want with their own websites and press releases and if we are grown adults then we ought to act mature about it and not treat this like a nervous spectator sport. Looks like Bitwig know what they want and they are going for it and that is a good example of how to live life. I will respect them unless they start making fun of Rachel Ray Cookware or Ray Liotta or Ray Ban sunglasses or Ray J.gpunk wrote:miedex wrote:Its amazing how angst'y and uptight people are getting over Bitwig.
I think you will find it isn't Bitwig, just a general annoyance at these companies need to try and hype their product before ever even having a product, lets not forget here that a bunch of us watched Jorgen post demo after demo of great features for XT 2 over the years it was taking to be developed, and then when it was released it was some half finished no feature pile off rubbish for want of a better word, and could not live up to it's own legacy left by its own previous version 1.4.
The hype these companies try to generate just negates any good work they have done by raising an expectation of the general dumb populous, it will always backlash and as much as i have said over and over, lets just let them release the thing before saying it is this that or the other, Bitwig themselves should not chat this that and the other about it either.
In this particular case (Bitwig) where already having a lot of people thinking capital investment scam, the fact that they have released this hyped info just before a big show (Investors) does not down play that at all (I am one of the people who have always said "No way it's a scam" and i am 100% certain still it isn't) but they should just get on with releasing this thing instead of trying to generate hype.
How dare they postpone a product that didn't have a release date!Spitfire31 wrote:Now that is finally a constructive and helpful post!:roll:gpunk wrote:These guys really have ZERO idea at all about marketing do they hahaha

Can you imagine the questions though?headquest wrote:Partly agree with both those points of view...
However, one thing I personally wonder whether they will regret making a premature press release at a time when they clearly don't have staff in place to answer the emails and other enquiries generated by the interest they have created...
Some people may well conclude they are not professional simply because of unanswered emails, enquiries, etc.
How could people possibly make music without Bitwig studio!Sascha Franck wrote:Is your sequencing world depending on the release of Bitwig all of a sudden?
I don't get it.
