Leipzig sounds cool, but due to his price, definitively
not into the same category :)

about the Minibrute, the Steiner Parker filter is THE mistake for me,
the same beast with a fatter filter like a moog ladder and
i buy it immediately. (+ wood flank!)

The Steiner-Parker filter is precisely why I'm so excited about it. Yeah, the Moog ladder filter is great, but it's been done to death. Happy to see something new and different!

Yes but how fun will that Delay be to play around with? I'm loving the Monotron Delay ..... or at least I will be just as soon as they reach UK shores (outside of fee-bay sellers making a few quid on imports).

This looks great!

I'd definitely donate for a working plugin controller.

Forgot to mention it's running on Win7 x64 inside a 32bit Cubase 6 as a VSTi on an instrument track. The plugin has internal midi-port settings connected to the input and output of the Mopho, separately from the sequencers midi-ports. When you send notes or controllers to the plugin it outputs them to the Mopho. All editor functions use NRPN messages and are automatable, except the patch exchanging which is in sysex.

It aims to be a perfect integration, as in, you won't even notice you're not using a software synth.. except for the sound of course :)

Very bored at work today - not much going on! So to eat up some time I knocked up my excitement-o-meter graph!!! MUAAHHHHH!!!! Shows my impression/GAS for the 3 new analogue synths we saw around the time of NAMM. Also thrown in my long term GAS wildcard, the Tom Oberheim SEM Pro

Novaflash I can totally understand the sentiment but there are so many Moog filtered Moogs out there at still reasonable prices or lets say at the same price as the mopho. Prodigy or even a slim phatty and now the minitaur. It is really nice to have another option.. and for some it will be too 'brutish'

And the price point on the leipzig is a lot higher.. Future retro xs territory here.

I have to say of all the <650 synths the Dark Energy is still a crazy good contender.. there is a thread over on Gearslutz that has a member who puts every new synth he acquires through its paces by performing New Life by Depeche Mode. (it helps him learn the synth) He released the midi file and the rule was only one Oscillator. I'll tell you it was eye opening for me. I couldn't believe how the DE stacked up against the SEM, the voyager and the Cwejman s1 mkII. I've concluded far from being a bass synth it has some of the most fantastic lead sounds for a mono I've heard in a long time. Some softs were used too like DCAM and U-He Diva. All the other posters who put up their version are all reposted in the very first post on the thread so you don't have to go looking for them all. Unfortunately I think the person who posted the mopho version took it down. But I digress.. I would like to hear a few of these new synths doing a production I know as well as I know that song.

syzygywell wrote:I'm surprised no one has brought up the leipzig. I think I like the inherent sound better than the minitaur but this is a bit more money due to the analog sequencer on board as well. ( it also has the moog style ladder filter)
All I know is the Minitaur is the best sounding new analog I've heard in years. I'm like the analog snob of analog snobs - even most real analogs don't do it for me! - and those Analogue Solutions synths have never done it for me.
but the minibrute, if the build quality is solid, (and it looks to be) is full of win with the CV I/O and Steiner Parker filter and coming in at about $500. Someone using both discount codes from musicians friend just managed to get it for $360 stupid stupid money.
The build quality isn't all that solid, it feels like you might imagine a $499 analog keyboard would feel. However, the sounds it can make are special and unique, so it's still "full of win".

Minibrute for leads and FX + Minitaur for basses = <3
