Lotuzia wrote: 1/ Under Win7/64 do you run 32bits or 64bits versions of the daws ? If you use Cubase 32 on a 64 bits systems you should run the 32 bits installer, not the 64 : There are now separate versions of the installers.
I see the same problem in:
Cubase 6, X32 and X64
Studio one 2.04, X32 and X64
Reaper 4.151, X32 and X64
Lotuzia wrote: 2/ Do you use the latest version ? If not you should try to uninstall the present version, then reinstall with the last installer, that you can find at the usual location on Xils site.
Yes the newest version 1.02 - i even searched my harddrive for old xils stuff delete.
Also the same problem with the demo version (so not a ilok problem)
If i remember correctly - The very first beta version of Synthix did not have this problem..
(can i download that somewhere ?)
I also own polyKBII, Xils3.. no problem there..
Lotuzia wrote: As a workaround, if the problems persists, you can also run the 32bit version only ( after having uninstalled the 64bits version ) and play it thru Cubase bridge. Its reported very stable as well.
Same problem with both the x32 and x64 version of Synthix.
I have also tried the demo version - same problem.
Lotuzia wrote: If all the above doesnt fix the problem please can you contact us via the site or PM with details on your system ( OS/Daw versions etc) and your user name. Thanks in advance.
I will....
Lotuzia wrote: A change of the protection scheme for the flagship version is not schedulled atm. An option for a bigger GUI might be considered. True, we're atm thinking about the layer management. I cant say much more than that. its really a wip.
Sound GOOD !!!!! (please also re-think the ilok solutions.. go the plugin-alliance way !!)

EDIT::
Just did some tesing on my Lenovo Laptop (W520, 16Gb ram, RME babyface) - Same problem on that rig...
But i did a roll back to version 1.0 of Synthix, And that worked like a charm !!!!! So something is changed in your GUI-opdate-thing-routine..
Thanks a lot for all the details and comparative tests Tommi, it wil help a lot to track the problem, especially the details of the v1.0 vs 1.02, demo/full version etc etc

Yes we can provide you an older version of the installer if necessary ( I think they might still be available on the site ( old version on DL page but I'll check this) so at least you have a workaround to play with it.

Its strange because we now have a lot of reports for the Synthix x64 working ok , Cubase, Logic, reaper, even on Sonar 1 etc etc

More news ASAP and thanks again.

Cheers,

Does xils advertise with CM/FM?
Strange question, fast answer : No we don't.

Both versions have the same presets, Stephen refered to the possibility that the X32 and X64 versions don't share the same folder for the presets, when installed in different folders ( so they are just duplicated on your HD )

Wich is a fine tunig of the installers we have still to work on to answer Stephen's question. ( Please understand that the focus is now to reach full stable versions on all X64 systems, wich its almost done, but as you see still a few combinations still have problems )

Fortunately there's always the workaround to work with the 32bits versions and bridges in these cases, or to revert to the 1.0 version for windows systems. but still we'd like the x64 versions to work on 100% systems, and not 98.

Thanks to Jumper though we know know that if the demo versions work on X64, the full version will. So please try the demo version first.

Hi Gosh,

This is scheduled within the next two months, hopefully before.

Hello Xavier,

so far the x64 (ilok version) of Synthix works very well, congrats ! (win7/studio1 v2)

Will Poly KB player and Xils3 "LE" ported to 64 bit along with the full versions ?
I'll for one probably upgrade them at some point, but meanwhile having them in x64 would be a treat....
Thanks a lot for the feedback SirBelllog, especially as Studio1 is one of the hosts we have the less reports for

Glad it works for you. And yes the lite version will be ported to X64 versions too.

Both versions have the same presets, Stephen refered to the possibility that the X32 and X64 versions don't share the same folder for the presets, when installed in different folders ( so they are just duplicated on your HD )
The problem is by default both installers select different locations:

32 bit

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\XILS-lab\Synthix

64 bit

C:\Users\username\Documents\XILS-lab\Synthix

so with the beta I ended up with only the factory presets showing up in the 64 bit version but none of my own or third party ones

This time I will tell them both to install to the same place and over ride the installer's suggestions (they should install to first folder since that is where my presets are I think - although it's hard to tell with the unidentifiable preset system)

Update - installed to the first folder and now both versions see the same presets. Xavier you should make both installers share the same preset folder by default - "all users" is the best place for shared stuff in Windows

I'm working on this (top of my todo list !)

Th issue came from the x64 compatibility development. At this time, now, on windows XP 32, the GUI is as good as it was with the 1.0 version. On windows 7 64, it needs more work (still usable, but not as good as on XP so we don't want to release it yet).

Anyway, I think there will be more news in the incoming days.
Thanks for your patience.

Any news ???

I did try your new beta of XILS 3..
The 32bit version are working great (no GUI bugs)
But the 64bit (vst, win7, 64bit) are crashing Cubase 6.05 and Studio One 2.03.

I got this report too.
Will check and fix it during the incoming days.
Then when this issue is fixed, I will update the PolyKB II and the Synthix

A few bugs I found in the XILS 3 1.5 beta Windows version (I'm running Win7x64):

64 bit version won't open in 64 bit versions of SAVIhost and VSThost.

Also, in 32 bit version (which generally seems to work ok), there is no "Import Bank" choice on the "Bank" menu -- it is mislabeled as a second "Export Bank" choice

Finally, when you import a bank and then close the plugin, the next time you open the imported bank is not there.

Looks like the latest (2/28) beta has now fixed the bugs I noted above. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the report Clif321 :)

The Xils3 X64 port seems to take much less time that the Synthix one did. And once it will be totally done and all bugs ironed out ( seems we're close to that now ), the PolyKB II will probably take even less time.

Also there's now a single installer for both 32 and 64 versions.

Hello fellows,

did try the updated Beta version 1.5.0,
(x86 and x64 VSTs on a Win Vista x64 system),
this one is certainly better as the Beta before in regards to Installation
(the prior one was a mess).
Still one little issue left:
I've chosen C:\ProgramData\XILS-lab\XILS 3 during Installation for the presets.
The Installation put the factory presets at this place just fine - OK.
The x64 VST picks up these presets from this path (like expected) - OK
But the x86 VST still picks up the old path (defined by a prior version of XILS 3), in my case C:\Program files (x86}\XILS-lab\XILS 3
(I know, as this "old" location also holds 3rd party presets, which show up
in the x86 version only).

There are two entries in the registry for the InstallDirectory:

for x64: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\Software\Xilslab\Xils 3 -
InstallDirectory - Value C:\ProgamData\XILS-lab\XILS 3

for x86: HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\XILS-lab\XILS 3 -
InstallDirectory - Value C:\Program Files (x86)\XILS-lab\XILS 3

BTW, right now after defining a new common preset folder for both versions,
one has to copy the presets from the old location to the new one
(that is to be able to access any 3rd party presets so far imported).

FYI,
and thanks so far for the x64 versions !

Cheers
