It's really much better in person. That said, it's not a monster bass synth but it does do some amazing lead and FX sounds I've never before heard from an analog.

Agreed! The original Pulse has such a massive sound, I can only imagine this being amazing.

Just posting that I would love to hear more sound demos of this...it says on the website it's made for "classic analog sounds," which is what I'm more interested in, but pretty much all of the demos so far are pushing the Brute Factor feature and going for the electro house/noisy dubstep crowd. Would love to hear what smoother sounds can be made and how the filter sounds at lower resonances!

Before adding in all the crazy stuff, it reminds me most of an SH-101.

Yeah I noticed that too, at least in terms of specs/features...will have to check out some SH-101 demos (or even plugins e.g. TAL Bassline, just to see what the sound design possibilities are).

I agree. It's hard to get a sense of the basic character of the synth when the metallizer, filter resonance and brute factor are all turned to maximum. I am sure that there is a lot more to the minibrute than these over-the-top 'tough' sounds, but most of these dingus sound demo-ers seem to have no idea how to use a synth in a musical application.

Several aspects of the design are obviously inspired by the 101 (e.g. single vco with waveform mixer and sub oscillator) and I can maybe hear some similarity in the osc sound, but the filter (which is really the key part of the 101 sound imo) is totally different.

The Steiner-Parker filter has a 12 dB low-pass filter with brain-ripping resonance and a sort of throaty growl. The 101 has a 24 dB juicy Roland filter that drips with acieed. I think the 101 has the coolest sounding low-pass filter ever made. But the Steiner-Parker filter definitely sounds like it has a lot of character and with the extra modes, it should have a lot to offer.

UGH THANK YOU, thanks to this video (and specifically the sounds at 10:30), I went ahead and preordered one of these. :x

Will be my first hardware synth apart from my Gakken and Korg Monotron , which I think I'll use as a dedicated filter for this (having an MS-20 filter on this synth is like the best of both worlds!).

I was there on Saturday and played with the PPG Wave 2.2.
Funny thing as i just released my bank for the PPG Wave 3.V and never played the real thing before...

Some photos of the PPG Wave 2.2: https://rapidshare.com/files/4212975468 ... e_2012.zip

I also checked the System 100 which is shown on that photo.
