hey guys,
please recommend me some good music theory books or online resources that will help me get a better understanding of how music works.
I went through 'music theory for computer musicians' lately and it was very very informative. I want a similar book with a bit more depth.
I don't want basic beginner stuff on music theory, but something more inclined towards intermediate or pretty advanced stuff. Thanks!

Hello,I am an independent music theorist who has recently published on Amazon Kindle his last book on musical time, in English language:
http://www.amazon.com/music-Temporalist ... B006FWZLSI (https://www.amazon.com/dp//ref=nosim?tag=kvraudio-20)
Now I try to promote it and was advised to contact various music-related communities, like yours, whose members might be interested in this subject.
Thank you for your time,

Can someone suggest a good, easy to understand book specifically on (or at least providing good info on) horizontal composition? Counterpoint, fugues, voice leading, etc.
I'm quite okay with chord progressions and scales, but know little about counterpoint, and it bugs me.

I'm not sure if it is exactly what people are looking for, but I would also like to recommend the following book:
Four Part Harmony
It is an excellently written book, comprehensive yet concise, about classical Harmony, including the important principles of voice leading/part writing. It deals with both diatonic and chromatic harmony and includes extra material on understanding things like key signatures and intervals. It includes numerous examples which are analysed in terms everyone can understand.
