The waveform portion of the UI reminds me of the Max4Live Granulator that Robert Henke (monolake) made. Especially how it scans through the waveform, grain windows, etc.

Yes. I would have liked to carry this in my shop but I honestly think this new structure will make PadShop a much bigger hit than if it was to sell for $199 in stores.whet wrote:Ok the price is a suprise. Would have thought its around 200 euro o0. Seems like Steinberg rethought their pricing structure.

Cubase is the most installed sequencer in the world so it's not too bad of a move. Also, Steinberg needs to push the VST3 platform more than they need to sell PadShop.Neon Breath wrote:Ok thanks. I really don't get why VST3 only. They really don't want our money?? Too bad for them

What really amazed me is the table you can see on the left at 1'55 !! If it's bundled with the synth, i'll buy it as soon as it will be out. Sounds really great, but it reminds me about skanner, which is free... hope this will bring something new to the table !

No, expensive products = dongle; cheap products = soft eLicenser. It's a simple as that. Steinberg OWNS eLicenser and it's here to stay because it works like a charm for them. And for me too, there is nothing 'crappy' in dongles, I wish I could store all my licenses in one of them.Aerio wrote:That's exactly what I mean:standalone wrote:Sequel doesn't need a dongle either.Aerio wrote:What's even more interesting, that Steinberg is starting to ditch the dongle!
Sequel, Cubase Elements (which I use), Wavelab Elements, SoundPacks, and now their first instrument! Maybe this is a test route, and one day we'll see Halion or Cubase without that crappy dongle...
By the way, their soft elicenser c/r system is very client-friendly: no unworthy begging for new activations, licenses transferable. And one BIG advantage over their dongle:
When your dongle gets lost or broken, you will lose all your product licenses. But you will never lose soft elicenser licenses, even if your whole pc gets lost!
And about losing your licenses.......again 'no':

Sonically, sounds good for the audio demos. Still, in use it will be quite interesting to see how it's going to stand against all the other granular monsters already outhere like Reaktor, Alchemy, Absynth, Granite, DensityGS, Crusher X, etc etc

So we need something like a VST3 to VST2 bridge

At $50, it will probably hold up quite well. Although I wonder if it will end up being an issue that (at least as I understand it so far) they don't allow you to use your own samples for the instrument.Neon Breath wrote:It will be quite interesting to see how it's going to stand against all the other granular monsters already outhere like Reaktor, Alchemy, Absynth, Granite, DensityGS, Crusher X, etc etc

Yep, it's already an issue for me I don't wanna work with something that doesn't let me use the sounds of my choice or my own samples + that VST3 only thingKBSoundSmith wrote: At $50, it will probably hold up quite well. But you're right nice price, definitly a +

Yep, I too wish I could put everything on a dongle, a lot of advantages from my perspective. Will definitely buy this synth as soon as it comes out.standalone wrote:No, expensive products = dongle; cheap products = soft eLicenser. It's a simple as that. Hi guys,
i saw the video and thi plug in seems really interesting
the only thing that i dont catch ( because i dont have a clue of it) is the vst2 format
what is the issue with the vst3 format? is it alreay implemented and included in cubase ( I own version 6) or ist it another thing?
and why has jbridge been mentioned? is it is by steinberg, what is the problem?

Albert.VST is suggestion that if something like "jbridge" were available for VST3 to VST2 conversion the same way 32bit/64bit is, then you could run Padshop in your DAW.
The issue is most DAWs dont support VST3 format currently. So those who arent using a VST3 compatibly host cant use Padshop or any other VST3 instrument or effect until its implemented.
It would be great if Steinberg released VST2 and VST3 versions. Then there would be no issue (or the DAW you are using adds VST3 support in the future which is more likely.)
You could use VST Host - http://www.hermannseib.com which supports VST3 as an alternative for your VST3 plug ins if you dont mind using 2 different host applications.

Yes, it's already included in Cubase 6.Giusmex wrote:what is the issue with the vst3 format? is it alreay implemented and included in cubase ( I own version 6) or ist it another thing?
