I'm intrigued and impressed really that people are willing to jump through so many hoops to make Reaper work for them. Must be a labor of love for you guys cos honestly, it hit a point for me where it was interfering with my desire to record and make music

Honestly, its more than just an ugly GUI. Just opening Reaper bums me out for some reason. It always feels like I'm beta testing a promising DAW that never reaches its full potential. I regret the countless hours tweaking and patiently trying to force myself to accept the shortcomings of a convoluted workflow, weird modular design and disconnected GUI. I just don't need or want a complicated DAW getting in my way. It's organized for tweakers and no one else imo.

Well, I was all set to give S1(2) a fighters chance. Too bad about not being able to run anything on it w/o the cpu meter going crazy. And it was a long list of people and "poof", nothing more done/talked/fixed.

I like being able to run 6 instances of whatever guitar amp sim, SD, whatever synths I want, all the fx I can muster and have plenty of cpu left over.

Oh wait, we were talking gui's......my bad

I wish somebody could show me a DAW that did what Reaper does within my price range, unfortunately I haven't even found one that does what it does outside my price range either.
Bad UI aside (Yes it has a terribly out of date UI) there is nothing around as powerful for the things i want to do

Apart from the theme I have changed absolutely noting myself.

To be honest, your comments seem to have no connection with reality at all but look more like a summary of (imaginary)complaints expressed over the years by people who either never used it or never bothered to learn anything about it.

I did that. Still CPU spiking.

Autosave on my X1 did not cause spiking there....

Since when does having an opinion on a DAW have anything to do with having a "connection with reality"?

I'm just sharing an admitedly subjective opinion here. I used this hodge podge of a program quite deeply for years. I've been all over the Reaper forums, bought the Reaper Power and ReaMix books and watched both Groove3 Reaper Explained series. I put the time in to learn this weird program and I actually know it quite well. I customized menus, installed extensions and themes, etc. to try to make it work for me and something was always just....off

It wasn't fun for me at all. It's not that I don't understand how to use it; it's more that it's just not enjoyable for me to use.

I'm an idiot for sticking with it as long as I did when it clearly wasn't for me. I want great usability, easy accessibility and an inspiring and attractive GUI with solid, stable workflow. That didnt exist for me in Reaper. It's f*cking tweak-city and right-click menu hell for people who enjoy creating macros, shortcut lists and routing matrices. Sh*t! I got enough complications at work.

I don't need to give myself more when I create music

Yes. That's when Oriion wins hands down. Good looking, simple to the point and before you know you are making tons of music just like in MuLab 4 as well.
