My latest thang - mostly chillout, but the extended synth solo takes in a prog direction (or it would if I had better keyboard chops ;) )

It wasn't me! (well, actually, it probably was) - apparently no longer an 'elderly', now a 'senior'! Is that promotion?

Speaking of the cloud, very much liked your 'Clockworks' piece btw.

Indeed Mike really lovely chill piece. Started with almost a soul vibe I thought but mutated into something sort of jazzy. The groove came a little unhinged once or twice but it wasn't too unsettling... almost gave it a spacey feel. Sweet! 8)

For the first 50 seconds or so, I was thinking "Where's Barry White?" He should be here, voicing over this about how some lady is going to feel good or whatnot. From there it drifts into an extended synth solo that recalled lots of '70s rock and jazz-rock albums.

This turned out to be a real treat of a trip down memory lane.

Nice work, Mike. (Godfather of Soul and caped crusader of the month):D

well, this made me feel like i was hanging out in a bar at the other end of the galaxy sipping a heady hyper-galactic fartblaster :)
incredibly smooth, i too could imagine Barry White floating past laying down some of his pre-coital jibber-jabber!

lush stuff :)

neil.

Thanks Matt - the soul feel was totally subconscious (I am a big fan of Lonnie Liston Smith), but it seems to be the way the best stuff comes out so I'm happy with that :D

-and thanks for the cloud comments too :)

Ooh, this track just oozes "cool" in an old school way.

I think perhaps syncing the delays (and predelays if those are used too) to different divisions of the tempo would be beneficial for a more smooth picture, but it's never bad enough to be annoying or anything.

Small gripes aside, very cool track!

thanks for listening Prog 8) I only used one bus delay (some of the instruments had their own delay which sounded nice/subtle enough to leave in place)on this track - unusual for me, but maybe another delay would have added a bit more flavour...

lovely relaxed feel. Beautiful sounding bass kind of lead, almost brass sounding when higher, wonderful lead tension slides and effects on it. Uber cool.

:D thanks for listening and commenting fa, the lead instrument is good ol' Albino3 :)

Albino 3 .... sounds very analog. :D Quite a variation of sound through a few octaves.

there sure are a ton of good sounding synths out there that I'm not familiar with.

Post

It's a very versatile synth, there's usually at least one instance of it in every track I make. There are shedloads of presets for it too, an advantage of it's 'maturity' (the disadvantage is the growing chorus of 'where's Albino4?' - personally I don't care whether there will ever be an update, it's stable, it sounds great and it continues to be useful 8) )
