So this is my problem. I want to be able to EQ the sound I hear through firefox on video's. I have a Audio Komplete 6, but this has no EQ. I did a bit of googling, but I couldn't find anything. Actually I don't even know what to look for. Does a bit of software like this exist that would be compatible with my soundcard? I'm running windows 7 btw.

Any help appreciated. Thanks...

I've been wanting this for so long. Crazy how it doesn't come with windows as standard! Or that you can handle each audio stream from applications separately!

It took some time to track it down! I couldn't remember the name but i knew they made an eq as well .. just by luck i clicked the right eq at once

With this you create four virtual audio in and outs. Set system to use one of them as standard and then use it as input in your host. Set your host to use your real audio output. I got it to work but i never bought it. Maybe they've reduced the price because i thought it was expensive but now it seems better. Noisebursts in demos can make me get non-groovey in mood and never mind any purchase .. could have been that.

Yup, +1 to the above-I've used Virtual audio cable, it involves going into control panel, changing the sound out to vac, then loading a host(I used savihost) and an eq plugin.

Both above mentioned items are low cost.

If you have a soundcard like the E-MU 1616M you could insert realtime effects in the master output (like an EQ). Unfortunately realtime effects are disabled for sampling frequencies beyond 48khz.

Would be nice to create a VST effect chain for all audio output on your system!

Simple solution - use a cheap outboard mixer like Behringer UB802. Put that on the audio output. In the box solutions will give complexity and latency.

Yea, an external hardware audio eq is your best solution here.
I wouldn't personally trust a software-based one anyway, since for it to be low-latency enough for games it'd have to be reasonably crap.
ANyway,
some soundcards do have built-in EQ settings, like some of the onboard stuff.
You can sometimes pick up cheap graphic eq units 2nd hand.

I've been thinking of getting Behringers http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/DDM4000.aspx
Can be used for several things.. but if you don't plan to play around as a dj of some sort it may be a waste of money

Several stereo inputs, effects, very tweakable EQ
and

Everything can send midi! (ok, not everything, but just about!)

What are you EQing?
I needed a simple bass boost and Win7 can do that easy..

edit: ah, never mind.. it seems that can only be done for the HDaudio driver.

All I want to do is be able to EQ music I hear through youtube and soundcloud. I actually have an external soundcraft mixer, but it's a bit overkill to hook it up just for the EQ because it's pretty big. The ddmf plugin looks like it could do the job, but I don't need it that urgently that I need to spend money on the software. So it seems there isn't really a free easy solution for this....

I'm planning to get an interface and running it through CD in on my reciever and keep the on onboard card in the TAPE input,and just switch when i need it, do you think ill run into the same trouble?

I need a system wide EQ....independant of the DAW or soundcard settings. Is there such a thing?
