Hi!

I've been deciding between Massive and FM8 lately to buy some good old secondhanded VSTi. Decided for Massive as FM8's sawtooth wasn't so good.

I really like Massive's performer LFO setup, but something bothered me. Is there any way how to change width of steps in there? Seems like not, no mentioning in manual even... So I went to their page. No success in getting actual information, but I've noticed this picture:

See? There is double sized steps inthere and some little "handlers" in the stripe between the sequencing window where one would even expect width control. So I went back to manual and and found no mentioning again, but these handles are in the illustrational pictures as well:

Any idea why is that? Did they removed this function in newer versions? (Mine is 1.3, so should be newest.) What version to downgrade? Or they plan to add it or ... ? I'm outta ideas.

Easy-peasy. Click the "Load Curve" button (below 5 Perf) and all kinds of wondrous things will be revealed. This is your palette of curve shapes.

If you want to have another go at the manual, check the 4.8.2 Modulation Pages /Performer section.

Beyond that, I would strongly recommend that you check out John Lehmkuhl's Massive tutorials on his Youtube page (Quik-E videos 1 and 4 in particular). Truly enlightening stuff.

Apart from slightly facetiously suggesting that you have read the first post in this topic.... (:hihi:) I know how to modulate in Massive, I'm not that stupid. All I'm talking about are these "double sized" steps as shown on picture from NI website.

Seem to be impossible with up to date version.

Don't worry, I sometimes do exactly same thing including "D'oh! backfire!" part.

...still doesn't solve the topic. Kind of sad to see that in "dubstep" synth. One would expect this would be working perfectly. .......hmmmmmm. I'll may put this question on some big Dubstep forum. I mean, if kings of LFO doesn't know, then it's probably impossible.

You try asking on the NI forums? I would hope one of the NI lurkers over there might have an answer. Just going by that pic I would guess its just some sort of marketing mockup and they botched the photoshop job

Wow! Nice find!

My guess would be that they accidentally (or intentionally) used a screenshot of a new beta or something since I don't think this kind of thing is possible in the current version. Would be a very welcome addition though!

That beta would have to be fairly old though. The manual wasn't updated since ages iirc.

Yeah, 2006 it says on the manual's front page.

Thats not the only one thats different in the manual. if you look at the pic of the lfo on page 27 youll see a yellow arrow that I assume would let you place starting phase position, instead of the current method of moving the whole waveform. The manual also discusses moving the yellow arrow etc. Also in that pic the save/del options are gone, and I think those were missing in the advertisement pic. So i would think these may have been shots from early development since the preset features werent in there

Ohh, well

Than my guess would that it's a feature of a pre-release version which got removed before the release because it didn't work correctly or something like that.
I'm 98.99% sure that it's not possible in the current version.

Yeah, starting to think that too. Sad though, I could use that. I'm so glad I've got Zebra. Everytime some synth lack something, you just ask U-he's monster to help again.

Anyway they should fix at least the advertisment picture, It's false information. They could get in trouble for that.
