Scarbee Funk Guitarist, do you own it, what do you think?

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah that was what I was thinking, also it being in Kontakt made me think it may be a CPU/disk hog, do you have any opinions on that? And it doesn't export to Midi or have any solo voice, both were concerns. I still may get it eventually if they do a sale but I think I did right getting Guitarist, plus since it is laid out with a fretboard I will know exactly what is being played and can try to compliment wityh my own guitar.

I found programming it while having it open in my DAW to be very slow and tedious. It's much quicker to program when you open Kontakt as a standalone. It does have a little learning curve, but I've got a handle on it now and have been getting great results. I've been using it on a batch of blues tunes lately, which has involved creating entirely new shuffle groove patterns, & it really sounds nice! I do hope they make significant improvements to the interface in future versions, but the concept is very cool. I think it's certainly worth checking out.

I liked the Funk Guitarist interface from what I saw, that was one of the draws for me, interesting to hear it is slow as a VSTi. I also feel really good about the small footprint of Guitarist, it is only 500 MB instead of 8 GB. Maybe that means sonically SJG is more complex but Guitarist ran through Guitar Rig 3 is pretty convincing, and it is really easy to edit patterns and get the results I want really quickly. The 'animation' feature is so slick and the whole app runs very smoothly. I can't recommend this enough. The one criticism I had heard was sonically it wasn't the best, but really, if you bypass its built in effects and run through a good plugin, it really really rocks. It can handle far more styles than SJG. I'm so glad I took the chance and asked for a discount. Anyhow I should stop searching for new plugins and start making some music

The Funk Guitarist demos sound much better than Sugar-Byte's Guitarist in my opinion. I'm still skeptical of the sound of these programs, but if nothing else, they can provide some inspiration for new riffs and patterns that you can then play yourself on a real guitar or give to a guitar player.

Haven't seen much talk about SB's Guitartist - I'll try out the demo.

I think it depends on who you are, how you work, and what you are after. I'm no pro so I'm no going to go out and get a guitarist to finish a track I am a bad guitarist and this is to help me out really, I'm looking for 'sounds good' vs. sounds like a real guitarist anyhow, it sounds close enough in a mix for me. I have a pain disorder so even practicing much is hard, so this is a crutch for me, to allow me to get the sound I want even though I can't physically play it.
