This doesn't surprise me considering it's URS. Certainly NOT one of problem companies ;)

I'm talking about DAW companies mostly. Either I've been part of the beta or known people in it and it's very "tight" and it's more of a popularity contest than were gonna get crackin'.

None are perfect, I'm just jealous because they didn't choose me

Logic : $200 <-> Bit of Wig : $450

For sure Live Suite users (like me) ain't going to dump another load of cash and say goodbye to suite overpaid package  :bang:
And with the Mirage of a possible Live 9 it would be unwise to spend that much with the risk of looking back at Live 9 and regret your old fateful wife you just dumped for a ........ :uhuhuh:

Well either that price is wrong or Bitwig will have the shortest lifespan of any audio company ever hahaha
Unless Bitiwg are very very stupid they will realise that they need to make the price very very low ($100) and shift as many copies as possible, to put some hype on the product.
Unlike other companies that can afford to subsidise lower sales by virtue of their hardware sales or companies that can be very low cost because of they have a very small dev team or whatever, Bitwig have nothing at all.
They can't afford to close themselves out of a market that doesn't actually "NEED" them.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop ...

Has the Bitwig beta definately started ?

We'll see how far the "I'm dropping Live and moving to Bitwig" enthusiasm goes now. I've got a feeling there will be a lot more "I'm going to stick around and see what Live 9 has to bring" now :hihi:

Bitwig haven't announced anything yet, and websites put in random prices as placeholders for preorders all the time. I have no idea why you would think Bitwig would tell some random online shops a price and not announce it to the public.
+infinity!

kudos!

IMO Logic is at the right price point, $199 to get into it, and $199 for every upgrade.
No reason in a flooded market to have people pay more than upgrade price to test something out. Plus it effectively kills sales of the DAW to other people. Why buy Logic 8 for $150 even when 9 is $199?

on twitter bitwig there is a link to dvmagazine, can be sold for download
with a registration key as on Timespace, it may be associated to launch?

If those 10 people each send 10 bug reports, a quarter of them are due to user error, a quarter of them are duplicates and only a few have steps to reproduce or any kind of details about how they discovered the bug.
This is what I've experienced as well.

I think many have gotten it right. If you're looking for perfection, forget it.

"Perception" is a bitch though. :) If a Sonar user perceives their closed testing system as being really flawed... sure, there is probably a case to be made for a more open system there. But I wouldn't apply that universally across the board.

Most of my complex software has been relatively bug free... from closed testing systems. DAW's in particular - even in an open testing systems - are subject to so many unlimited possibilities, circumstances, that even a good test system can't catch it all.

The bigger question is "How fast do they fix those things?". In that regard, Sony (for example) isn't the quickest kid on the block, granted. :)

But Amberiance makes the point above. If you can't do steps A to E and have the same bad result happen, recreate it on multiple systems, it's likely not actually a bug, just a "particular condition" that maybe needs examining, or trapping.

I mean, I cannot load Altiverb in Vegas... at all... fails every time. But nobody can duplicate that issue... so Sony doesn't actually consider it to be a bug. It's apparently some kind of incompatibility that only exists on my system.

If that is the actual price, or at least in the ball park, then I think their business model needs to be questioned - it's very hard to break in to a well established market and not be competitive and I don't think this price will be.

Let's hope that either this price is overstated or that this software is so good that it blows the competition out of the water completely, although the latter is a very tall order...

Bitwig sounds like a gross insect, like an earwig. Not a very appealing name.

You mean instead of getting in your ear it gets in your bits...?
