Self fulfilling prophecy?hibidy wrote:Actually, the reap crashed on me today so that's what I get for posting how "stable" everything is
JCS does much, much better than most at squashing "bugs" quickly, but they aren't perfect either. There actually are some longstanding "issues" that some may perceive as "bugs" in the Reap.
Everything will crash for somebody somewhere sometime. I tend to ignore the random ... "X hasn't crashed on me once in 5 years and I never turn off my computer!" ... comments about any software

The best thing is a closed beta followed by an open beta imo.
And I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the Bitwig guys want to do.
Open betas alone are practically useless imo. 90% of the guys who apply just want to use the software early and for free for a time.
Than there are the things GeorgeZ mentioned. They need a proper bugtracking system to really gain something from it. But even then most of the reported "bugs" will be just user errors/duplicates/whining etc.
It is way to much work to keep track of all the reports.
In a closed beta with some well choosen people all the obvious bugs can be ironed out.
It is impossible to find all bugs in a closed beta though since there are so many different system configurations these days (especially for plugins).
That's why I think that a closed beta before an open beta makes sense.
Someone mentioned Diva as an example for a working open beta, well there was a long closed beta phase before that.
Just my experience.
I'm beta testing for a few developers but sadly not for Bitwig
Lets just wait for the demo before we complain about possible bugs
Cheers
Dennis

cause sadly it seems they have bigger issues than bugs, I haven't received my beta invite
Must just be an oversight! Sure it'll get sorted soon

Haha.hibidy wrote:It's a plot guys. It's Lawrence, he TOLD them not to.
In all seriousness though, I'm actually much less interested these days. I'm not exactly the target audience, I don't think. I find the shot across the bow of Live more interesting than me potentially trying the app. It should result in some entertaining Internet threads.
I mean, it's currently kinda vaporware and yet ... a 22 page thread.

Meh, can't call it vaporware until it's at least at 124.6 pages, and a year after the final "it'll be out soon" announcementLawrenceF wrote:I mean, it's currently kinda vaporware and yet ... a 22 page thread.
I doubt I'll get this though, too many DAWs already (half of which I don't even use
