I love the sound of Xhun Audio's LittleOne (supposed to be a Little Phatty emulation, IIRC). I've gotten some amazing leads out of it.
Costs 45 Euros = about 60 US Dollars, at current rates.

A well-behaved signature.

I second that, I'm keeping my eye on that one.musikmachine wrote:That's a nice synth!JerGoertz wrote:I love the sound of Xhun Audio's LittleOne (supposed to be a Little Phatty emulation, IIRC). I've gotten some amazing leads out of it.

I'd say check the demos out of all the Korg synths, and get 2 for 100.
I'd choose the M1 and MonoPoly to cover a lot of ground with just 2 of em.
http://www.korguser.net/login.asp?OS=WIN&LAN=1&TOP=1
The demos are nonrestrictive. I believe they are 15 day trials.
Easy to program the analog ones too.
The M1 makes good layered type sounds.

[offtopic]you didn't say which genre of music you would like to make but if it's trance, you definitely need Camelspace: http://www.camelaudio.com/camelspace.php.
And take a look at this too: http://xferrecords.com/products/lfo-tool Here is a demonstration: [/offtopic]

Not trance, generally I'm all over the place and just sound like myself, my influences are psychedellic rock ala Grateful Dead and Gong, and 80's synth-pop and the Cure. Camelspace looks very interesting, very handy and is under $100
good suggestion there, I may get that at some point.

man, just put some cash together and buy zebra²... you will never be disappointed and nothing, no NOTHING will sound better than zebra²!
ummm... why the heck, do I not own zebra myself? (ah, I know, I can't put cash together... I always have to spend it when it's in my hands... sometimes I feel like, I'm stupid!)

My favorites in that price range are Surge, ACE, Axon, Phosphor, Aalto Microtonic, Poise and maybe Ambitron for something more "out there".
You should also check out some free synths like Tyrell N6, Zebralette, Synth1, Oatmeal (You probably want to use the Limeflavour skin for that one), SQ8L and maybe Charlatan for something very basic with a nice sound.
Bazille is also amazing and free at the moment (will stay free the whole year).
For some affordable (but awesome) effects you should check out ValhallaDSP, Sknote, the Uhbik bundle and the other offerings of Audio Damage.
Variety Of Sound offers some amazing free effects.
Many people also like the free effects and synths from Togu Audio Line, I never really liked them but that doesn't matter here
Wow! That was a lot of link searching and copying
And I probably forgot some obvious ones
There are many other cool things out there but these are my favorite ones.
For some things you'll have to search and try a bit more (especially for free synths and effects since there are so many out there).
A hope this helps and gives you a good starting point!
Just on a personal note: I suggest you to save a bit and get something like Zebra (My personal favorite) since you probably won't need another synth for quite some time (or ever) with that one (which could save you quite some money in the long run).
Edit: Added a few ones I forgot
Cheers
Dennis
