Watching this tutorial may help:
It's for Evolution Electric Guitar, but the way the guy puts his song together should work for almost any Kontakt guitar.

well, understanding a guitar part is understanding a guitar part, you aren't going to come up with it out of nowhere.
Greg who make that product and made that video majored in music theory I believe, and plays the hell out of a keyboard and has obviously emulated a lot of other instruments on the instrument. that's really, no kidding, what it takes to create viable music. there are no shortcuts, there is nothing that will replace it, you get your hands dirty over years then you maybe have the ability to put it all together.
music isn't special compared to another art. you don't get to be a good visual artist on a computer without making a mess with the physical world awhile first...

edit someone else's progression?Nicksaf wrote:to learn how to edit it to be interesting.
tell us your understanding of that progression, why are these choices made? If you do not have that, the exercise is pointless.

Progressions are only part of the big picture.
Form is the big picture.

What do you mean? I chose by ear until it sounded good, i didn't think of a progression, what should i consider in order for it not to be pointless?jancivil wrote:edit someone else's progression?Nicksaf wrote:to learn how to edit it to be interesting.

Well actually that's what i'm asking, a good source of copying from, any song people think is appropriate for this situation and genre.
I understand the years required and said before that i don't expecting any shortcuts. But in order to get there you have to start somewhere. Im not planning to sound like a superstar from a few mouse clicks. But it doesn't mean i should drown in "you don't have the skills for it", the understanding of which is important tho.
