I don't think that exists, at least nothing very good. Anyway, Trillian will cover that really well for you.

Spending more doesn't always mean getting more

Spending more doesn't always mean getting more and sometimes spending more does mean getting more. IMO, there's nothing under $100 that can compare with DIVA, Omnisphere/Trillian, or Komplete. If I were starting out building a library from scratch, I would buy Komplete Ultimate and nothing else ever again.

Oh one consideration I really want to make is a non-intrusive, no-dongle licensing system. Anyhow, I think I better just work with what I have right now, I do have a few decent basses, some decent Moog-like synths, I could actually learn to make and tweak my own channel strip effects chains. I'm just experiencing gear-lust for the most part

I have a month before I can spend any cash so I'm going to meditate on this a bit and go try and actually make some music. Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I'll revisit this thread when the time comes.

Save up and get Fabfilter Twin2. It's great. Then, save up more and get Reaktor, and you're done.

+1 - I had Twin2 a while ago, but was too dumb to realize how good it is, so I sold it. I just recently bought it again. It is one of the easiest to program - but can do simple to complex sounds. With all of the fancy new synths coming out every year, this one still has one of (if not the) best interfaces I've come across. Typical of FabFilter stuff. Sounds great too.

Twin 2 is good.Some great sounds can come from Fabfilter One as well.It's excellent for a single oscillator vsti,cheap to buy too

Totally agree. Fabfilter has the best UI of any plug in company out there, hands down. Totally tops. I've used Twin 2 for years though I find it doesn't do really fat, punchy, or gritty sounds without effort. For example, comparing a single straight saw wave to the same set up in U-he's Ace, Ace has a lot more presence and bite. Twin2 has a very smooth and velvety sound. Great for pads, bell sounds, EPs, and such. The modulation routing is pure genius. Great synth. Has it's place in my arsenal.

and all I can say if I feel spoiled now, no more will most so many freebies work for me (Tyrell is a notable exception.) I also bought Trilian which is fantastic as a lead synth as well as for bass, and at the end of the day I have to agree you do generally get what you pay for. Much better to have a few good synths than a ton of limited, cheap ones. Anyhow my band it pretty fleshed out now (band sounds so much more peaceful and harmonious than 'arsenal'). Thanks everyone for advising me.
