Why is it that by default, Diamond has some odd volume levels? Concert Strings' demo does not have this problem. What should the true default values be so the sound doesn't clip?

Is there anybody out there?

An easy question like that and... SILENCE?
Excuse me fellows, but it's embarrassing already.
A bit of attention here would be good.

Regarding updates
  • If you got your download as part of the group buy - just download the January updates.
From what I saw everything else is already contained in the regular downloads available to the group buy customers.
  • Organize your downloads by saving them in separate folders, such as "Diamond Updates" or "CS2 Updates".
This will prevent a lot of headaches later.
Also - if you don't have a file/folder comparison tool get one.
For the PC I use Beyond Compare by http://www.scootersoftware.com/ - and it has saved my rear countless times. It made it a lot easier to figure out exactly what was what.

Kirk - please update the FAQ page on your website!

I don't thiink that is true. For example, the Doamond TVEC1 Woodwinds were fixed in December but are not included in the january downloads - and as my demo shows: the TVEC1 are probably the better versions. So I suggest to do the following:

1. Download all patches for the proct(s) you own.
2. Apply them in chronological order (older ones first, then newer ones).

cheers, akj

I double checked and the *.nki file included in the
12/19/2011 update for Diamond is newer (Diamond Bassoon Solo.nki is newer by 3 minutes) than the same file that is included in the download.

- Yet the date/time stamp of the download file containing the older file is newer than both...
Original download:
_TVEC_3.1_Instruments.zip 12/19/2011 10:47:05am (around 3 1/2 hour newer than either file) contains
Diamond Bassoon Solo.nki 12/19/2011 7:08:22am

Web update
_TVEC_3_updates.zip (web site say creation date is 12/19/11)
Diamond Bassoon Solo.nki 12/19/2011 7:11:42am

Kind of hard to know which file Kirk intends to be part of the final installation.
Kirk - if you read this maybe you could clarify...

Is creating a windows install wizard or Mac install package too much of a hassle?

Kirk - if you read this maybe you could clarify...

I could be that in the meantime kirk has the updates included in the download, but I downloaded the files before the updates existed. However, it is always a save assumption that the newest file is the newest version...

I would do what AKJ says - the important dates are those of the .nki files themselves, not of the .zip files.

I installed the updates chronologically (having backed-up the previous versions, just in case).

I much prefer a simple .zip file with instructions, as Kirk has done. Then I know what is going on . Installers can be problematic - without careful checking in the installer it is too easy for files to be inadvertently overwritten (especially if you have previously edited the instrument files and saved them back with the same name).

This. If it helps you to want an installer less: I've written installers before (basic ones, no registry edits, using NSIS) and essentially, really all they do is save you the trouble of manually copying things over. As an added bonus, there's an add/remove program entry automatically created with most installers. Plus start menu links (Windows), and desktop/launch bar shortcut options. And most of that is unnecessary for a sound library.

hey y'all, sorry i can't offer anything on Diamond, i don't own it

i did edit the first post of this thread with more info from above. thx Steven!

a little search hint to help with long threads (until kvr mods make threads searchable):
  • at the bottom of every thread page, under the last post, there is a link for "Printable version"

clicking that will reduce the number pages (currently 36 pages down to just 6)

use your browser page search to make a quick search of each page
