I'm looking for some sort of idea for sounds (synthesized or live instrument) that may be good alternatives to this:

(That's the sound dry, with some expansive 'verb and delay it sounds nice, to me)

Also, on that same note, any good free music box samples out there? I tried one a while ago that was great, but it was for Kontakt, which I don't have. Tried it out on Kontakt Player, but...well you know how that goes.

Sonic Couture has a free Musicbox set in Kontakt/EXS and Live format. The Kontakt/EXS version has the wav files so wouldn't be difficult to map them in whatever sampler you wish.

You have to sign up (that too is free) to download any of the free stuff.

Coincidentally I think that is the music box sample I got last time. Well I know nothing about mapping them, or how to map, so I might need a little tutorial on that, unless there are free EXS or Live players (not familiar with those...I assume Live is probably Ableton's proprietary sample player format)

if you should own sytrus, have a look at the preset "glass" in the bells category... :)

That's the kind of sound that FM is really good at. Any synth with FM will have some bell presets that you can tweak to taste.

Sounds interesting...but I don't own sytrus (though it's name alone perks my interest)
But, I'm not JUST looking for bell sounds, really any sound that sounds good on short staccato notes that is sweet and gentle. I'm just seeing if I can get an inspiration for the song I am working on.
