The "WHY?" Box...

...and how to do so...

Right why? you might well ask but this little box is really neat and it has no controls or such as it is intended to do one thing only. The "WHY?" Box is a simple buffer/two-way signal splitter, The idea came to me when using one of my A/BY boxes and well obviously not needing the A/B switching option. It runs off of a regular Boss-style 9 volt PSU. As i only came up with the idea and asked my good friend Paul (was known around here briefly as 'insonicbloom' but although he has ditched KVR his e-mail is still fully working FWIW/should anyone want to get in touch about anything :) ) "can you build me this which does this as i do not need this or this?' and he did, Agreeing it was a good idea as he also was using his A/BY boxes in the same manner. I will put up some pictures and get the schemo of off Paul to post also when i can. Just thought that some of you might like to read about it and if you use an A/BY box mostly in the Y/Both position then may want to build one up for yourself :)

Also i can see no reason why you could not add additional outputs plus build more than one to split your signal at whichever points in your chain/chains as you so desire...Gives me alot of possibilites personally and as it is buffered there is no issues with running longer cable to/from it as it would be if it were not buffered...etc.

So WHY not? Bad pun intended but i really like the name i coined for the little thing, Imagine being asked "Why do you have a WHY? box and what does it do?"

OK...Why WHY? :P :hihi: :hihi:

Actually that sounds like something I could use here...considering the mess I'm accumulating

sounds pretty cool Dean, I think I may have to construct some form of matrix eventually (as you know :hihi: ) But I need an input selector, an easy way to patch from the line out on one amp to the power amp AND a way to select which speaker out goes to which cab (and/or attenuator)...I'm thinking about perhaps training a monkey...hey!!! then I would have a drummer too :hyper: :hihi:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
