I looked into this program, I liked it some but I like http://goldwave.com/ a little more just wish Goldwave had a 64 bit audio engine. I'll like it a lot more when that day comes.

In the beta 14 of ocenaudio you can save regions and markers only in WAV or CAF format.Ozpeter wrote:Is there - or will there be - the means to save regions and markers? At the moment if you lovingly create some, then save and exit, they are gone when you reopen the file. That's a bit of a problem.

Am I mistaken or is that Goldwave lots of money ($99 lifetime for a second-class type of DAW, as opposed to, for example, $50 to $60 for full-fledged DAWs Podium and REAPER). Will ocenaudio be big bucks or something soon? My understanding is it's to remain free, so that would be a serious diff when compared to Goldwave. Ocenaudio is more on the level with Audacity and similar freeware.
I don't have time to read all 7 pages here -- just on a break currently -- but I did look into ocenaudio newest beta, since the curiosity was killing me.
I put it through some of the paces after I installed it yesterday, and I am very impressed. It's in fairly early Beta releases and it already is on par with Audacity. Of the some 70 VST plugins I loaded on it, ocenaudio only crashed once, from one tough one -- a mastering plugin I will never use in ocenaudio, called LPGEQ2 from sss, or in English, "linear phase graphic eq 2."
Very interesting: it saw and loaded safely two VSTi plugins of all 30 in the folders -- it loaded Voyager and oddly enough an Arp 2600 soft synth simulation called Arppe2600va. Best of all it took Phrazor, a defacto VST and VSTi mini-host, although I haven't loaded Phrazor with any instruments yet. If I can load up VSTi's in Phrazor, that would mean I can run them into ocenaudio!
Very attractive and practical UI. Minor feature additions it could benefit greatly from are remember former screen postion on start (it was half off the screen to begin a couple of times), full user selection/control of all file paths, especially for setup of the Project folder(s) for recordings. It also needs load last file or project on start, preferrably with the option to load last view. I only render to WAV formats, aside from needing MP3 renders occasionally; it would be very helpful to be able to render to ANY commonly employed industry-standard WAV files -- 16 and 24-bit (non-float) signed PCM, maybe 32-bit (float) IEEE and all available in the various common kbps rates; it needs options for setting 44.1k and 48k on up to 96k if possible. It offers MP3's in 320, which is very helpful. Otherwise, it has most, but a few important ones are missing. Some of the more unusual formats it offers probably won't get used by anyone very much. The Edit menu needs more and better tools -- a true draw pencil (I know that's down the road and a tough one!), eraser, glue, scalpel, etc. A true toolbar would really be nice. The generic in-house effects and particularly their UI's and ease of use seem more than adequate.
Overall, ocenaudio looks very promising! I probably won't uninstall my Audacity anytime real soon, but I am always on the lookout for software that fills that nitch well. Speaking of which, I see it, like Audacity, will receive audio from my PC's Stereo Mix audio capture feature.

It's only $50 lifetime and $19 one year lisence, also, it 's an Audio Editor not a DAW. If you have any more questions follow this link http://goldwave.com/purchase.phpThe Telenator wrote:Am I mistaken or is that Goldwave lots of money ($99 lifetime for a second-class type of DAW, as opposed to, for example, $50 to $60 for full-fledged DAWs Podium and REAPER).
for a DAW I'm happy with Studio One V2 and Sonar, not looking for replacement yet.

I tried Ocenaudio Version 2 Beta 14(build 3564) again and got an APPCRASH error upon opening in Windows Vista(64). I had to disable Vst and this solved the problem. I think there may be a problem with the Vst wrapper. I only mention it here because I know the developer reads this thread. Feel free to ask for more info if necessary.

Silly me, I should have expected that. I was doing a very quick test with an mp3, and that's a format in which I wouldn't expect regions and markers to be supported - if my brain was in gear!In the beta 14 of ocenaudio you can save regions and markers only in WAV or CAF format.
Anyone jumping into this thread at the end and not wanting to read back is humbly recommended to read http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 61#4727161 and the few posts following for a quick guide to the special features of this editor.I don't have time to read all 7 pages here -- just on a break currently -- but I did look into ocenaudio newest beta, since the curiosity was killing me.

Well, I'll give it a go.
Fed up with the free version of wavelab, used to use goldwave years ago and liked that.
But new PC, so time to look at new tools.

Ozpeter, I humbly ask that you understand that I am not at all interested in reading page after page of early failed Beta release problems, and post after post of complaints about it, as almost none of that applies to the current Beta release. My post was restricted to trying ocenaudio as it is today. The comments and feature requests I put there were intended (again) for the designers also of this nifty little bit of software.
I've only made a few posts so far on KVR forums, but I may just go back to using KVR for info only. I sincerely dislike coming away from a thread wondering why I tried to be helpful in the first place.

Er... I think you didn't click on my link. The posts I referred to were by me (thus the humble reference) outlining some of the unique features of this editor, which remain in the current version as far as I'm aware, and how to use them. I noted that you were short of time and I was trying to save you some time by pointing you to some key (imho) info. Of course you might well have already discovered all that stuff and more, but others (who I also intended to read my post) might not.Ozpeter, I humbly ask that you understand that I am not at all interested in reading page after page of early failed Beta release problems, and post after post of complaints about it, as almost none of that applies to the current Beta release.
My current thought exactly. But I realise you misunderstood the intent of my post, so no hard feelings.I sincerely dislike coming away from a thread wondering why I tried to be helpful in the first place.

Is there a plan to support bext or ixml metadata ? As it's a common tag for wav files used in audio and video.

We've studied the BWF standard and the XML scope seems to be long. Also, we don't see how a practical application could interact with ocenaudio. Could you explain us a typical usage of BWF and IXML metadata?yopppp wrote: Thanks for all your work and for this great soft.
