Diva is speaking pretty loudly right now, actually she is singing :) on my laptop, the slowest of my machines, I get a 4.6 from the Windows Performance Information tool, and SW Magic Flute patch, which may be typical of the kinds of sounds and loads I would use, uses 20% CPU on Divine setting with heavy playing. That is not so terrible, and I don't use many tracks actually, and really don't mind freezing tracks, so I think Diva will work, my main DAW is faster by some margin, I'm not exactly sure but twice the RAM as well @ 4GB. I do like Ultra Analog and Tassman sounds like a good deal, but then so does ACE. But I really am not so brilliant to get into programming a true modular synth, Diva is set up to give flexibility but also continuity with what I'm already familiar with: moog and Roland synths. And it is brand new tech and will last into the future, that has to be a consideration, even if only for resale value.

Does this improvement apply to Divine mode?

Yes, fast, great and divine

We'll release it as soon as we fix another badge of performance-related niggles.

That's great. :)

Is it a general performance improvement under typical usage or is it a speed gain related to specific circumstances?

Urs : fantastic news !

I was wondering if it is possible to use Diva (or any other hefty synth) with my laptop as a 'hardware' synth to keep the load off the main DAW. I use reaper and I believe it allows some sort of multi-computer setup, though I'm not at all familiar with doing that. I don't mean to run wires from the laptop, but it would be really cool to not worry about load at all and also have a dedicated screen for Diva. Anyhow, time to go dream of one day having that static sound removed forever :) Urs, I really love your work! Everything about Diva is just outstanding, from the preset management to the UI, concept of mix-and match modules to of course the sound. It was more than I expected to find in a soft synth. So many of the new synths are way too digital (on purpose and on accident) for me and Diva really fits what I wanted perfectly.

AND I just realized you can resize the UI! It just gets better and better. That is one of my very favorite features of Synth1 :) and I'm so glad to see it in Diva.

To the OP: I don't want to spam your thread, but Lotuzia always shows up in these "VSTi recommendation threads" with his faux humility, and places a thinly-disguised ad for Xils synths somewhere in there (he works for Xils), usually after gratuitously naming some "other" synth to hide his true intentions. It grates on your nerves if you visit here more often... at least, it grates on mine. I don't mute him because he's sometimes got interesting opinions, but I like to shoot a little good-natured fun in his direction once in a while, in the faint hope he'll stop doing that.

The sad thing is, XILS really does make some bad-ass synths and doesn't need this kind of thing. So yeah, I can second the rec for Xils3-LE: wonderful plugin that's really affordable. It will get you that prog vibe.
You're misinformed : I dont work "for", but "with" Xils-Lab, and collaborate with them for developping particular projects. In other terms, to make it clear, I'm not employed by Xils, I collaborate with them. So I dont expect you to make apologizes for that, but maybe one day you'll want -eventually- to stop spreading false information ....

Why do I promote other instruments ? Not for hidden purposes like your innuendos suggest it, but for the exact same reasons, or, more simply, because I like them. Different musical instruments = Overall Richness = Music = Life is all my message.

Hey, I made a 260 instruments soundbank for AAS Ultra Analog. Wake up, man !!! Do you really think it was for an hidden purpose to promote Xils-Lab, and "gratuitously naming other synths to hide my true intentions" ? :bang:

As the rest of your post following is based on the same faulty logic, or poor information, I'll just let it like that. I'm sure you honnestly think of yourself as "the wise guy ", seeing "the hidden things" where the "ordinary blind" can't, and spreading "the truth" ( i.e your truth ) to "ignorant masses". There are unfortunately no plot, nor hidden things : Your prophecies are vain.

Last thing : Glad you like Xils synths. Its one thing we have in common. As you never -iirc- mention them, and seem to think they are so badass that they dont need some support, then we differ again. But thanks nevertheless for your support.

Maybe one day we'll share more.

Edit : + answer what you want and have the last word. I'm out of this thread. Ultra Analog is a very nice synth, with a particular sound of its own, I've given sound examples of why I think so. And therefore have nothing else to add.

Sorry to the OP for OT.

Gee, I thought I was muted.

From the Xils website:

"Lotuzia : Sound designers relation, presets integration and management."

Denoted as a "Team member".

I rest my case.

You're ranting. Look up "psychological projection" on Wikipedia.

You still don't seem to understand that I object to the FORM of your statements, not the content. But as I've reiterated this with you a few times already, I'll leave it at that as well.

I'm not wise, if I were, I wouldn't be typing this. Don't worry, Meffy, I'm wise enough at least to stop this now.

@braj: you've obviously been bitten by the bug that's gotten all of us happy Diva users in the last coupla months!

It's mostly perceived under heavy resonance, i.e. high resonance doesn't add as much cpu anymore. It's not a massive jump, but we're getting there bit by bit. We're also trying different ends. Like, Andy from Cytomic suggested to try a different angle (literally) which might be faster (but maybe a tad less accurate).

We'll see...

Yeah, I get why people essentially said 'if your machine can't handle the load, don't install the demo because it will make you sad.' It really is everything I wanted and I'm happy it runs ok on my machines, and that Urs and team are still working to optimize it more and more. I am a very religious person and yeah, to me it sounds 'divine' even on draft :) just remarkable, so many of the presets too are so musical and nuanced, so playable and I'm up late with a mouse, no keyboard. In the morning when I get to a real keyboard I'm going to PLAY :)

p.s. I don't mind at all how or what Lotuzia posted, I personally find it helpful that devs and sound designers post on KVR, I wish more did actually.

All of the u-he synths do this.. next you will want to demo ACE and then Zebra

I own UA, but I got it for a no-brainer and I have to tell you I wouldn't pay $100.00 for it. Xenos made an awfully good soundbank for it, and made some sounds I never thought possible, but for whatever reason, it doesn't start playing when I hit play (in FL) It will start playing fine on the second pass of the loop, and for this reason, it's unusable for me.

Don't compile in debug mode? Switching from QBasic to C++? :hihi: Anyway, looking forward to it.
