You gotta love the patch information for the JAWashingMachine preset

maybe not my go-to sound but hey. There are so many great presets with Diva, many synths I've demo'd have just weirdness patches to show how unique they are but Diva has really expressive playable presets with an excellent patch browser. That was one of the things that really impressed me, because I have some plugins that have some lovely sounds but finding them in the preset banks can be bewildering. It seems with Diva every single little thing that I care about it there, presented beautifully.

My thoughts exactly! Even DIVA's initial setting clips like crazy, and some of the oscillator modules does not even have a level control!
UA also has best soundbanks I've heard for any soft synth.

Cool you were able to get Diva! Diva is musical and full of character so it is easy to make presets asking to be played... and 3rd party soundsets are just starting to come out.

What?? Who? And I did go with Diva

actually I've been using Tyrell a lot and Diva isn't so much more humgry.

Hey Howard, I googled you and YOU were the Gong member

that's wonderful, I met them twice, once in 1990? I think in California, whatever incarnation that was, I really didn't know much about them except they were crazy

and in 1998 my friends helped them with their tour in California, and they came to my house after the local show

It's all a blur now though... definitely one of my most favorite bands of all time!

Is ableton analog precise clone of UA? I get the feeling that ableton analog is more disliked than UA so there must be some differences? Btw, is it possible to convert original presets for ableton instrument?

Really, i think UA is a great synth, and I just wanted to know if this now 6 year old plugin is worth $100 to me, for me after considering everything and hearing Diva it seemed clear that I had better options available, I may get UA at some point when there is a great deal, I do still like it a lot, just with very limited funds I wanted to know about it in pure bang-for-buck value. The comments about support were very helpful, and so I chose something that I know will be supported and updated over the next couple years. I look at U-he and have a good feeling about that, we can see Zebra is on V.2 for example, and Urs proved that by posting here about optimizations. I would have had Diva in consideration from the start had I not been scared away by the talk of it being so CPU-intensive, but trying the demo I found my machines can handle it, especially for the way I work. So I don't want to knock UA just because it isn't the newest plugin around. I was considering it as my first choice for a reason

It's pretty much the same in the core synth but UA has an arpeggiator and its own effects, including a good chorus. This isn't in the Live version. I think some of the dislike for the Ableton version is down to the GUI more than anything.
