Ahh, music theory: only a little more factual than religion, but just as polarizing.
I'm pretty sure Perfecth Fourth doesn't care whether anyone thinks he/she/it/Buddha/them/tao is a consonance or dissonance. I'm pretty sure Perfect Fourth is pretty happy being many different things to many different people in unique musical cultures across the globe.
That said, there probably isn't any harm in the OP making a simple primer on chords without having to take into account every musical culture or physical fact in the world while so doing. A lot of people are familiar with that system, use it still, and many people are trying to learn that system. A rather naive and simple approach can be helpful for beginners--they can learn to hate people who think of chords differently than them after a little bit more experience (shortly after the chapter about dominant prolongation).
