Multi-track audio app for Android 'Audio Evolution Mobile' is looking for testers!

I am pleased to announce that my new multi-track audio app 'Audio Evolution Mobile' for Android is in testing stage. Just like Audio Evolution for Windows and OSX, it features multi-track playback, non-linear editing, real-time effects and much more. Here are some small screenshots, but please visit our website http://www.audio-evolution.com as well for more:




It's running on Android phones and tablets with a minimum requirement of Android 2.2 and a screen resolution of 800x480. Of course, it runs best on a 1280x800 tablet with a Tegra 2 processor, but you'll be able to test it out on your devices with the free trial version that will also be released.

In order to make sure it runs without problems on as many devices as possible, I am looking for more testers in short term.

* In possession of one or more Android 2.2 or higher device(s)
* Fluent in English or Dutch (to avoid confusion)
* Someone who knows that 'it crashes' is not a bug report
* Can test within a few days from now

It will run on both phones and tablets. The Kindle Fire also runs on Android, so it should work in theory. I'm not sure if it has the Android Market app though, which will be required (at least at first). If it has the Android Market app, just drop me an email and I'll send you a version to try out!

Very cool! I think our apps will complement each other nicely, I'm all for being friends and cooperation! The more of these apps, the higher chance that Google will wake up and improve its audio system.

I have seen discussions online about how to use the USB port to record audio onto the Kindle. (I don't have a link, but some Googling will bring it up.) My memory is that it is possible but not easy right now.

I don't know if that is what you were asking, or if you want to know if Audio Evolution can import .wavs? I don't know for sure, but I would be shocked if it didn't.

I'm hoping to use this in conjunction with Caustic to do a final "mix" of Caustic tracks plus my own homegrown audio bits, so I'd like this functionality as well.

Yes that's exactly my plan, I know that a mic/headset combo works on the fire through the audio jack but ive yet to find an app outside of android market place to record audio files and I hoped to use caustic along with evolution to make some magic music on my kindle. I'm stoked for the possibilities

Audio Evolution Mobile can record from the internal mic. Unfortunately, Android does not have USB audio or MIDI connectivity, at least officially.

Of course, Audio Evolution Mobile can import wav, aiff, flac, ogg and optionally mp3. Basically, whatever libsndfile supports, so that also includes 24- or 32-bit wav's etc.

But unfortunately, the Kindle Fire doesn't seem to have the Android Market, so at least initially, Audio Evolution Mobile won't be available on it.

Yeah, you just need a headset with a mic on it, like the ones that come with some phones.

LoopStack and Audio Evolution Mobile don't seem to open the mic successfully but I just installed TapeMachine Lite "Unregistered" (as a non-market download from the dev's website) on my Kindle and it works fine. If you're willing to tick "unknown sources", you're good to go.

Great news. Just sent an email because I also have several devices I can test it with. Will the Android version have the MIDI sequencing abilities of the desktop version?

Thanks. For now I have enough testers I think, but it's good to see the interest in this app.

Regarding the MIDI: eventually, yes, but I want to release the app in phases instead of one big everything-containing release. I first want to get the audio part out, then improve on that with some more features I have from the desktop version and after that I can add MIDI. Unfortunately, there is no USB MIDI support on Android so that makes it only useful in combination with virtual instruments. We'll see when we get there, but I'm open to user input.
